Hey!
I am a university freshman and I am worried about my standing in class for eng 101. To make things clearer, I will go into further detail about my grades throughout the class. There are 3 major papers in this class and I have got an A- on the first paper and a B+ on the second and will most probably get an A on the third. Most of my in class tests have been good, I have got an A+ on all of them. My homework grades seem to be fluctuating a bit. I have got an 80% or 90% on most of them but I have got a 40% on two of them. I have also missed a couple of assignments. I have also missed 4 classes. Should I be worried about this class? Should I expect a failing grade?
Thank You!
Check your syllabus. How are the assignments weighted in relation to each other?
My major papers are about 40 percent of the total grade and homework grades weigh 40 percent and 20 percent of it is for professionalism
If you have the exact numbers, you can calculate your grade yourself.
For example if my quizzes are worth 30%, homework 20%, two exams 10% each, and the final 30%:
Say I got 97% overall on the quizzes, 75% on the homework, 84% on both exams, and a 91% on the final.
97×0.3 + 75×0.2 + 84×0.1 + 84×0.1 + 91×0.3 = 88.2%
im in danger of failing
I’m going to get only 68%
Make sure you accounted for all of your grades (including the professionalism bit – estimate that if you’re not sure).
When you say you “missed” assignments, do you mean you earned zeros for them?
yes
I mean I have got zero
my professionalism grade might be only 50% because I was late a lot and i missed 4 classes
do u think that is accurate? but I was always participating in class and i was always respectful and prepared,
But I have been going earl recently and I have been improving my homework grades…
