I just graduated 9th grade and I have my goals set to attend one of the 4 colleges: NYU, Denver University, UCLA or Colorado University. I have a 4.14 GPA, a 22 on the ACT, and I am in honors math, English and literature. In 11th grade I am planning on getting my associate’s degree through dual enrollment at a community college where I live. I volunteer at my local animal shelter and I am a VBS leader at my church. Is there anything else I can do to better my chances at getting into any of these colleges and possibly getting a scholarship? (I’m going to get a better ACT score, this was my first time taking it)
Thanks!

You need to get that ACT 32+ to have a good shot at NYU or UCLA.

^^ Actually, a 32 ACT is at NYU’s 75th percentile (25th percentile is a 28), so the OP needs about a 30 ACT to be in the middle 50% for NYU. See C9 Data: <a href=“Research with Human Subjects”>Research with Human Subjects;

UCLA’s middle 50% is about 28: http://www.aim.ucla.edu/profiles/cds.aspx
University of Denver’s middle 50% is about 28.http://www.du.edu/ir/pdf/cds/CDS_2013.pdf
University of Colorado’s middle 50% is about 26: http://www.colorado.edu/pba/cds/cds14/index.htm

So @Abbyanto, for all those schools, you need to get your ACT up to be a competitive applicant.

As of right now, no you are not on track. Do not take the ACT as a freshman and then expect to get a 30. It happens to very very few students. You are still a kid. Do good in school, work hard, and keep your grades up. Hate to burst your bubble, but to UCLA, your GPA means absolutely nothing because they won’t even look at it.
