I’m a second year student. My first year was at UC San Diego, I did OK for the first two quarters, but due to personal issues I won’t get into, I had to withdraw two classes and fail a class last spring.

I got academically disqualified and I didn’t appeal, since I needed some time to gather myself and I didn’t think I was ready for UCSD yet. My UC GPA was like 1.90. Ugh.

I went to community college last semester and I took 13 units. My personal life became more stable and I finished with a 4.0 GPA.

This semester I’m taking 12 units. I’m lacking a few GE requirements: I didn’t take English 102 and I’m missing some credit in the “other” category. By this semester I should have around 70-80 semester units (I have yet to send my AP scores to this college, which is around eight passed exams).

I have so many questions, the counselors at my school are awful. Am I out of luck in transferring to CSUF? I want to apply THIS year and move out by next year…

I want to know how strict they are in general education acceptance. My counselor told me that I should tackle as many classes for my major as I can, and GE should be a second option to go to. Also, the CC I’m at right now is really ghetto and overcrowded, so there are a lot of classes I can’t get into (no waitlist). Transfer applications were actually lacking this year, so the offices were urging students to apply.

Also, if you move out as a third year student, are you exempt from on campus housing? Do I have to get my own apartment?

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I don’t know if it matters, but I was accepted to CSUF out of high school, but I did not choose to go there. I am aiming for another 4.0 this semester.

EDIT: I have AP credits passed in both English exams (language and composition). Will this be enough for my English requirement?
