Am I over-reacting?

Okay Basically since I started college I’ve been trying to stay out of the house as much as possible in order to get away from the pressure from my family. money, arguments, inconsiderate behavior, etc

So basically when I go home Im called names from my mom that offend me because maybe my room is messy or I won’t give away my money (since I desperately need, and when I don’t I get compared to idiot relatives like “look at jack he’s better than you <when it’s=”" utterly=“” false=“”>)</when>

So I’ve been smoking on and off now that I’m 18 and I do it as a relaxation key from all the pressures that my mom has caused me and “someone saw me smoking and told her”…so I’ve been studying all day without coming home at all for my final that will cost my A and I get a call that I was seen smoking, what happens now? I lose complete train of thought and now I can’t even look at my noted because I feel so angry (not because Im scared but because it’s none of her business)

I mean at least wait to screw me over after finals so I dont get to enjoy the post-relaxation instead of screwing up on something I worked so hard for

Sorry but you need a reality check. Smoking is stupid way to get yourself to relax.

and staying out instead of coming home to avoid problems is an even more stupid thing to do. It seems like you’re making no attempt to make things better.

and when someone calls you and you get angry I understand its hard to get back on track. Go outside, breathe and walk for a few minutes. Don’t smoke.

Sounds like your mom cares about you but you’re an ungrateful sob.

OK I definitely can relate to the part about someone getting you upset while studying. Ok last year during AP test week I had just finished taking USH and Physics(which I thought I did poor on). So anyways I’m cramming for Art History, because I didn’t pay attention to it most of the year, and my friend calls me up on the phone right after school ended(which I ditched to stay home and study) and tells me that this really stuck up kid we know who was in my physics class was bragging about how well he did on the physics test and was telling everyone about how I was so nervous about the test and that I probably failed it. Ok this kid has ADHD so he was aloud to have a ton of extra time on the test on which I felt time was the biggest issue. So anyways I get extremely upset asking myself “how does someone with a handicap find the room to talk” and I stop studying my Art book which I only made it halfway through because I couldn’t focus.

So yeah my advice to you is to cut off all communications with the outside world if possible during the few days before a mid-term. If you’re wondering it all turned out ok since I got all 4s

stop smoking, study at home, your mom is right but don’t let her get on your nerves - it’s natural for her to worry.
