I am 20 from Myanmar. My dad’s salary is about $300 per month. He has private business which makes about $ 1,000 monthly. I am a Myanmar university dropout wishing to study in U.S. I am trying to take TOEFL, SAT reasoning test, SAT subject tests in Math Level 2, Physics. I am not good in any sports. I have some talent in chess but about FIDE elo 1800.
My target scores are TOEFL above 100 ibt
SAT reasoning test = above 2000
SAT math 2 = above 700
SAT physics = above 700
Am I possible to attend college without my parents’ support?
I don’t want to take their money because I care about them.
I am willing to do everything to study, part-time jobs maybe.
I am interested in computer science.
My dream is to own a software company.
Thanks.

Why did you drop out?

There is no way to answer your question until you have SAT scores.

BUT you will be applying as an international transfer student. The most generous schools accept VERY FEW transfer students. These would be the schools that would be more likely to assist you financially. Getting accepted as an international transfer is a longshot…a huge longshot.

Thanks for your advice. I would like to start a new life and begin as freshman. I expect to study in 2015 fall term. The reason why I quit that university is I am not interested in it and there is no good future for me. And I love computers… I felt like living dead in the past 4 years here. Now, I think I have found the reason to live…

Possible. Yes. Likely no if you can’t pay for what it would cost. If you get high test scores, it is possible that some school will give you enough money to make it possible to study here in the US. Your scores would most likely have to be such that you are one of their top students. They also have to have awards of the size you need, and have them available for internationals. It won’t be an easy go at all. Like buying a lottery ticket.

You do not get to decide whether or not you are a freshman or transfer applicant. That is something the colleges and universities that you are applying to will decide. You need to email each of them, and ask whether they consider you a transfer or a freshman applicant. Some might let you apply as a freshman. Some will require that you apply as a transfer. Even if they will allow you to apply as a freshman, you will need to send an official copy of your transcript from your old university.

Very few colleges and universities in the US will meet the full need for financial aid for international students. Very few colleges and universities will meet the full need for financial aid for transfer students. This means that it will be very difficult for you to find a place that will give you the financial aid that you need.

Read through everything at https://www.educationusa.info/ then contact the counselors at the advising center that is closest to where you live. There are two in Myanmar https://www.educationusa.info/Burma-Myanmar They are the experts on situations like yours.

It is very possible that you will not be able to “start a new life as a freshman”. Every college application asks if you have previously taken college courses. You HAVE, so your answer will have to be YES. You will be asked to provide a transcript from your previous college.

As Happymom noted, the college will determine your status. How many years and credits did you get at your former college??

I don’t think you want to start off your process here by falsifying information on your application.

If you were a matriculated student (sounds like you were), you will be a transfer.
