Am I pushing my luck?

Hi,
I’m a junior who applied and was accepted to SIUC (Southern Illinois University Carbondale). We’re in a rural area, so the schools aren’t that great but I don’t want to leave my farmtown. My grades have been straight As throughout all of my years until this semester (1st semester of Junior Year); I’ve gotten a B in a science class. I’ve been able to deal with AP Chem, Bio, Macroeconomics, APUSH with decent grades, but Physics is hands-down horrid for me. I can only imagine how bad this semester will be after already having a horrible 1st (scattered with C’s and worse). My class rank has also fallen due to this. The problem is, I applied to SIUC without the knowledge of my HS because they are notoriously stingy on keeping everyone until Senior year for grant money. If my acceptance gets rescinded, I’ll be stuck in HS for another year. So here are my questions:

  1. Could SIUC rescind me now? Would my scores give me some leeway in this matter? I have a 34 ACT and I’ve had straight As until this point.
  2. How much could I push my luck grade-wise?

With appreciation in advance,

Do everything you can to keep up at least a C in each class including physics. Have you sought out help from your teacher after school, have you looked at online material (ex. Khan academy), can you try to get a tutor (either privately or many HS honor societies have students who tutor for free)?

I’ve tried to seek help from him regularly, but he only confuses me more each time with different concepts. Do you think that if I just try to pull through with at least a C in Physics, and keep a minimum B in my other classes I’ll be okay? Or would they still rescind me? The college has a party school reputation, but I don’t want to be completely reckless

The rule often quoted here is to avoid D’s, F’s and felonies. If you do that you should be fine.

Thank you!
