Am I qualified enough?

Hi, I was wondering whether my resume would be good enough for Ivy Leagues/ Top Tiers Thanks for answering!!

High School Rank: 36/553
GPA Unweighted: 3.65-3.75

SAT: 1st Attempt- 2240
2nd Attempt- 2310

Extracurricular Activities:

Debate
President of two school clubs
Assistant Leader for a local youth program
National Honor Society
Community Scholar Ambassador - 100 hours of Community Service
Business Internship at a local university for the past 3 years

nothing really stands out and GPA is well below their standards. but why not look for some specific colleges rather than just ones based on prestige?

^ Agreed. You’re qualified for a lot of schools, just maybe not the ones you list. But I’m not an admissions officer so who knows… it wouldn’t hurt to apply to an Ivy or top school or two and see how you fare. But definitely open up your mind and seek other schools as well.

Your numbers are respectable. Definitely worth taking a shot. Which schools are you interested in? and what major? also, do you have a hook of some kind - URM, etc?

I am of south asian descent, so i don’t know if URM applies. I am interested in Brown, UPenn, Columbia, and Georgetown. I want to go into law, and i was considering majoring in liberal arts. Beyond that, I have a hand-written recommendation from a college professor. My rank, as it is, is low because I skipped several years in a foreign language class. While i scored well in other subjects, I received low Bs in my foreign language class that but a dent in my GPA. If I write about that, would that improve my chances? Thanks for the advice!!

Well really anyone has a shot, and although your E.Cs aren’t lackluster, the way you present them in this thread make them appear so =p. Anyways, your scores( excluding GPA, which you justified) are around the range for Georgetown, Brown, Columbia, and UPenn; your E.Cs are good enough for Georgetown, but may appear not as strong compared to other applicant applying to ivies. Still apply if your willing, however, know that your GPA is not your only flaw, although it’ll be your most noticeable one.

If by south asian, you mean Asian Indian, than your are defiantly not UR. However, if you mean Laotian, Thai, or Cambodian, then you may be UR in terms of the other Asian representatives.
