Am I still qualified for AP Scholar with Distinction?

Well, I repeated an exam that I got a 2 on (The AP English Literature) with a score of 3 the second time. Do they count both scores or only the higher of the two in computing averages? I got:
AP US History: 5
AP Psychology: 5
AP World History: 3
AP Microeconomics: 3
AP English Literature: 2, then 3.

Thanks!

I don’t think so. According to [AP: Scholar Awards](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Qualifying for an AP Scholar Award – AP Students | College Board) , you don’t qualify since you got a 2 on AP English.

It says, “Granted to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.”

Since it doesn’t mention retakes, I’m sure they count. If you’re still not sure, just give the Collegeboard a call.

Best of luck. :)

Yeah I think the retake thing makes this a bit iffy, but you may qualify. Here’s why:

~You need 5 scores of 3 or more, and you have that. (USH, Psych, WH, Micro, and Lit the second time)
~Also, the average of ALL SIX scores would need to be a 3.5 or above. Lucikly, your average (I did this math in my head, it could be wrong) appears to be a 3.5 even. (21/6 = 3.5)

So you may just qualify, but only if they count retakes.

I disagree, I think that in fact you SHOULD get the award. You, at least at some point, scored a 3 or above on 5 exams.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much anyway though, it isn’t like it counts for anything.

Thanks everyone!
I’m not too worried, but my school has very few AP Scholar with Distinctions (5 one year, 3 the next, this year 1) and I would be very proud of myself if I got it.
:)

This was what actually happened to me. The bottom of the Award Categories sheet actually mentions that if you retake an exam, they only take your highest grade into consideration.

Can anyone confirm what tan2007 says? The website no longer mentions retakes.

college board awards are meaningless… there’s no point. People are often under the assumption that more APs is better… However unless you can get all 4s or 5s, you’ve basically just given college board an $86 check and with no college credit!
