Am I the only CC-er..... dealing with Hurricane Isaac?

Great to hear from you Montegut. Glad only property damage.
All of us who have lived in NOLA feel the pain you all have been through.

Hi to all! Got power back early this afternoon. Yeah! By day 4 of no power…the noveltly had worn off!

We were very lucky that my mom’s HUGE tree didn’t fall to the house - but as it fell toward the street - it took out 2 other trees, 4 telephone poles and various power lines. Not fun. They finally started clearing the street this afternoon, but the amount my mom will have to pay is staggering. And since no property was damaged - insurance doesn’t cover it. We are hoping FEMA will cover most of it. Who knows.

Ironically - all the worrying I did with DS#2 at LSU was pointless - they never lost power/cable/internet…NOTHING! Should have gone to stay with him.

Oh wait - college apt with 4 guys! Uh…no - better to pass on that one! ;)

Grc, glad your boy is fine. Best to you all in dealing with the aftermath and so glad it wasn’t worse.
Feel free to vent about insurance and other nonsense.

DS still has no power. But his gf’s place does. Hope his place doesnt get moldy.

LOL! Had fun teasing my son that we were “thinking” about invading his apt. I think it really freaked him out thinking we might just show up…knock, knock!!

Okay - will make it up to him tomorrow when I take him out for a belated birthday meal!

Montegut, If your neighbor’s tree damaged your home, the neighbor might be legally liable for paying for your repairs, especially if the neighbor was negligent refusing to trim his trees after tree guy told him he needed to fix his trees just a few months ago. Talk to an attorney to see if you can get compensated for your roof repair expense by your neighbor’s liability/homeowners insurance policy…you could end up with a full new roof for nothing.

lizard,
I think montegut said the house was abandoned. Even if they could track down the owner, getting them to pay might cost more in legal fees than just sucking it up and paying themselves.

Grcxx3-I’m glad that your family are ok.
