Am I the only one who really doesn't want to go to PEA or PA?

Don’t get me wrong here- they’re great schools, but I really don’t want to put myself in such a pressured environment. Most people on CC seem to love them, am I the only one who doesn’t?

I think that CC is only a small number of applicant who are generally rather serious about acadenics and quite nuts  (Im including myself in that so don’t rail at me)… Outside of CC Im sure the majority of the applicant pool feels little appeal for such a stressful and academically intense environment. That’s not to say your not very bright just that you don’t want to put yourself under heaps of pressure all the time which is the type CC seems to attract. Just my, probably wrong, thoughts

I don’t really but I’m just applying to apply. (to PEA) + i was peer pressured by my family to do so :/

I agree with BlueRaven1. The majority of 13-year-olds (and even independent school applicants) I’ve met find little interest in attending a boarding school, especially at extremely academically challenging ones like Phillips Academy Andover or Phillips Exeter. I, too, at first didn’t bother applying to Andover because (I thought) it didn’t seem to serve my academic and extra curricular interests well. I ordered the viewbook anyway and I must say, after talking to Andover students and perusing the catologue…I’m now passionately invovled in a love affair with the Academy.

Ah! Assign, you sound like me, except I was interested to begin with. But just interested. Then the viewbook came…

hahaha TomTheCat :)

The viewbook changed my mind about Andover to!

the viewbook for Andover changed my mind… in the opposite direction. im only still considering it b/c they keep sending me emails

Really? I was on the fence about Andover because of its size but after the viewbook it became my favourite school. Ill be back in 30 minutes.

I want both! lol. But seriously, tons of people want neither, including all of my RL friends except for like two.

How could Andover’s viewbook possibly turn you against the school? That just sounds like… Crazy talk

i totally agree tom!!

I think Exeter might be the scariest school. I feel as though it is a small college, that is an intense pressure cooker with many geniuses. When I toured, I was so confused with the numerous buildings so close together. To top everything else, I have heard about many unhappy children and the intense social pressure. It is just my opinion, in fact the viewbook turned me off even more. The it’s ok to be smart idea, was scary. Most school’s recognized the quality of the student body, but Exeter seemed to take this idea to the extreme. This is simply my opinion, I know many people on CC seem to feel very differently.

I agree! I haven’t been to either campus yet, nor have I looked at their viewbooks, but I’m not too fussed about them! I would much rather prefer to go to Deerfield. While it has good academics, its more laid back and doesn’t have as much of a pressured environment~ But then again, when i do finally visit both schools and see their viewbooks, I might change my mind, but undoubtedly.

same here! evyerbody is like majorly obsessed with those schools, and I really do not get it.

Im not applying to either now actually!

Where are you applying Blue?

Ahhh I love Exeter so much…I like the small college atmosphere.
