Am I too late for SAT/ACT prep?

I am fifteen years old, and I will be graduating in 2015. I want to start taking prep classes next year, but is that too late? A lot of my friends have been taking prep classes since freshman year. How much prep should I have? I am aiming for top tier schools, like HYPSM, Northwestern, and the University of Chicago. I don’t have a specific set of schools I want to get into, but I figured aiming for the most selective would set the standard pretty high. I really want to get 2200+.

I took the PSAT but I haven’t gotten my results back…

As corny as this may seem, it’s never too late until the day of the test.

I’ve only been studying for about a month and I’m aiming for a 2100. I wish I started after Sophomore year, because by then you have taken all the classes you need to answer every question.

How have you been studying? And it’s only up to the end of sophomore year? Hmmm…

I second Holden. How long you have been studying for does not equal how well you do.

I see what you and HoldenInTheRye are saying, cardoza. All the prep in the world can’t help me if I freeze up during the test. I don’t want to risk that sort of anxiety, which is why I’m looking into prep classes.

I am wondering if it’s too late for a 2200+ as well. The difference is I’m a senior; a senior that started to study one week before my second retake.

No, you have more than enough time to study.

Better study as much as you can until your SAT test, preferably taking practice tests and PRACTICING, PRACTICING and PRACTICING. That’s the trick.
