Am I Turtley Enough for the Turtle Club? :P

I’m sending in my app to UMDCP for early action (I’m brimming with anticipation), and I’d like to know what some of you think my chances are.

First off, I went to a magnet high school for engineering (out of state):

SAT Scores:
*2090:
*Math: 740
*Reading: 660
*Writing: 690

ACT:
*33 Composite:
*Math: 31
*Reading: 31
*English: 31
*Science: 36
*English/Writing: 31

SAT II:
*Math II: 770

Extracurriculars:
*I’ve been a part of the FTC branch of FIRST robotics since my sophomore year
*Paid internship as a mechanical engineer at a local optics company since the summer after my sophomore year.
*Debate Club since 9th grade
*Orchestra Club in 12th grade
*Jazz Club in 10th and 11th grade
*Interact Club since 9th grade
*MALS (Men against low self-esteem) member since sophomore year

All of my classes are honors.

High School GPA:
*Weighted: 4.721/5
*Unweighted: 3.1/4

I’ve also taken 2 classes at the local county college during my high school career, taking a third at the moment:

College GPA:
*Unweighted: 3.8/4

I’ve won 2 international awards for CAD, one for 1st place, another for 3rd.

Let me know if there’s anything else you want to know that would help you make an easier decision!

Thanks!

What state are you from? It does matter (NJ/NY is very highly represented…may be tougher to get in from there)? Regardless, your grades and scores are strong…probably a good chance at UMD (and Engineering). Good luck.

I had to respond to your post simply because of your title (and the fact that my DS is also applying to UMD).

Anyway. Your title, “Am I Turtley Enough for the Turtle Club?” brought about a chuckle for my children and me. We thought we were the only people who have ever watched and enjoyed the movie Master of Disguise.

I hope that you ARE turtley enough and wish you much luck in your application process.
