Am I waisting my time? Vandy and JH

I have a dilemma. Tonight is the deadline for Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins, and i don’t know if I should apply.

Sorry for any typos, just in a rush! Also I know my chances of both of these are slim (especially Vanderbilt), but a girl can dream. LOL

In all honesty, I think you have extremely slim chances at both. Not trying to be mean, but both those schools will want really high ACT scores, and I am not sure 30 composites will work for them. Good luck.

Definitely not Vandy without at least a 32 non-superscored

If you can afford the fee, go for it. Nothing to lose at this point, right?

I wouldn’t waste the money. Your chances at both of these schools are probably below 15%. Focus on where you’ve already applied/are going to apply.

The chances for OP are far, far lower than 15%, given that the acceptance rate at both schools is 10-11%, and the average ACT is around 33. Probably the vast majority of those scores are not superscored. The students with stats like OP’s who do get in probably are hooked in some way.

A 30 ACT with 33 superscored isn’t bad at all. I know people who have been admitted to better schools with <33 (No, they weren’t URMs.) Test scores are becoming less and less important in the admissions process. You’re def not wasting your time.

However, I would recommend not sending in your SAT scores.

Our school’s Naviance data shows that Vanderbilt is very scores focused, to the point where someone with either a 2300+ or top 10% could consider it a safety. No other top 20 school is as scores focused as Vanderbilt. I expect the gpa cutoffs will vary from school to school.
