^ you might want to look into a prep course. They are very expensive but i’ve personally jumped many points (like in the hundreds) after taking them. Both kaplan and princeton are good and I personally thought princeton (review) was better.

Good luck

i used the PR book, and i got a much higher score on the practice exams there… my highest was like 1920 when i took the average of the lowest to highest range. but i gave myself more time to get the q’s right… should i start timing myself?

dontstopbelievin: Yes, you should start timing yourself. The whole reason the SAT is hard to score amazingly well on is because of the time limit. Without that limit, you’d see TONS of great scores.

Also, I’m not a huge fan of the SATs or prep courses, but I actually signed up for a Kaplan prep course (the class one) and my diagnostic test was a 1900.
My real SAT score: 2300.
I think it was just the practice that got me 400 points: Kaplan forces you to take 4 timed SAT tests in testing conditions, and by the time I got to the real SAT, it was pretty much just automatic for me since I had gotten so accustomed to the rigors of the 4-hour test.
Good luck and hope that helped.
Make SURE you take the practice tests without giving yourself ANY extra time and make sure you simulate testing conditions to a tee.

chandlerbing, did the kaplan prep course just make you take the tests or did you teach you the things you should know before taking the SAT’s?

thanks for that reply, by the way :)

The Kaplan course did both, but I’ll be honest and admit that I didn’t ever do the homeworks they assigned haha. But I did sort of pay attention in class?
I think the course helped me the most with the Math Section, the score went from a 610 to a 780 because I actually studied the SAT math, I had forgotten a lot of it b/c I’m in the high-flying super accelerated math (whoop-de-doo, it’s hell) and needed to brush up on my basics

You’re welcome! Glad I could help.
