I’m a rising junior and my GPA is a 3.83. The reason it is so low is because my freshman year was pretty bad, I got two C’s. In my sophomore year, I got nothing lower than a 98% and I got a 5’s the 2 AP’s I took this year. I want to apply to Yale and stop other elite schools. I’m a black male, if it helps. Is there anything I can to to make up for my 3.83 or would it be a waste of time and energy to apply?

Apply, apply, apply! From freshman year to sophomore year you showed a HUGE improvement and Yale will like that. Along with grades, there are the ECs, so work on those.
I’m also going to be a rising junior, but I learned a lot in CC; you have to make yourself stand out. There are the SATs, so make sure you study hard and get an impressive and competitive score.

I think you should apply!! check out the “official RD decisions” forum and you will see the stats of those who were accepted.

you need to apply. people have been accepted for less, believe it or not. trust me its worth a shot. being black does help as well. oh please apply to yale and other top schools, you will be surprised at what will happen.

need more info
do u by any chance have like a really legit excuse for the low grades?
what’s your class rank?
sat i+IIs scores?

like what the first post said, “Apply apply apply!”. You got good grades and your GPA is pretty high. AND you’re what universities call, “belong to an underrepresented minority” so you will have a good chance of getting in. you’ll never know unless you apply!!!
