i wanna hear from kids from other high-end prep schools about college admissions this year. Despite the fact that they say college admission’s gonna be tough this year, it seems like the opposite. After a disappointing year last year (i heard it’s the same at some other schools too), the college admit stats are simply amazing this year, so far we have more than 30% of the senior class got into ivies and that’s not counting the waitlist that might hear later, which makes it one of the best years in recent years. How did other schools fare?

wow, thats great! if anyone has more info please post

do you know how many got into Yale? Georgetown? Middlebury?

Yeah, same…I feel like the Ivies just were like “Omg, boarding school is 1000x harder than public/private HS, so let’s take them all.” I thought it was only at Choate (we have a new head of college counseling who is in his first year) but apparently not. A lot of my friends got into multiple Ivies, my prefect who got WL’d at Brown, rejected at Harvard and Princeton, got into Stanford, where he had been deferred early. Soo many people got into good places. 9 got into Columbia (early+regular), with one of those a girl who had been deferred early. I just hope that when I am applying next year colleges aren’t like “****, we took 9 from choate last year, we have too many, let’s take 2.”

I was just talking with the mom of one of my son’s teammates and she was saying that her son was considering leaving his private school, which he attends as a day student, because they feel it is more difficult to get into the college of one’s choice (in his case BC) from a private school. Her reasoning was that they (the colleges) will only admit a few from each private hs, because they don’t want to be perceived as having favorites. Thoughts?
