Amazon/Apple Settlement

Did anyone get an email recently about an anti-trust lawsuit about the price of ebooks for kindle? Apparently I have $125 credit. Not sure if it’s amazon or kindle, I think it must be kindle. The message is on my amazon account. I’ve got some book shopping to do!

I got $59. I think the credit relates to Kindle purchases but can be used anywhere on Amazon.

Just got this unexpected treat this morning. I don’t have nearly that much, but enough for two or three free reads:)

Did you receive an email notification of the credit, or did you have to check your account on Amazon?

I got an email from Amazon. I only got $3 and change. But it seems easy enough to redeem, so it beats Ticketmaster there.

It was emailed. At first I thought it was a fake “amazon” email, but when I went on my amazon it linked to the same thing. I was an early adopter of the kindle, I saw it on oprah when it first came out. Back then the books were a dollar but the unit was a lot of money, now it’s the reverse. The entire family is hooked to my amazon accounts so I’m sure we’ll have no problem spending that over the next year. I’m not even sure what this lawsuit was all about.

I got an $81.21 credit that I have to use in the Kindle store, according to the email. It expires in a year. Nice surprise!

Yep. Just received it. Will check to see how much credit is.

$78. Not sure it has to be used in the Kindle store.

It doesn’t have to be used in the Kindle store, it will apply to any order. At least that’s the case for me.

Where do you see this on your Amazon account? I just logged into my prime account and don’t see anything.

I just got an email from Amazon letting me know they’ve added $59 credit to my account. It can be used for any Amazon purchase.
Seems to be some sort of kindle book settlement.
I’m happy!

Showmom, the news came in an email from Amazon; I assume the amount varies depending o which books, and perhaps how many books, you’ve purchased for your kindle.

You now have a credit of $4.71 in your Amazon account. Apple, Inc. (Apple) funded this credit to settle antitrust lawsuits brought by State Attorneys General and Class Plaintiffs about the price of electronic books (eBooks). As a result of this Settlement, qualifying eBook purchases from any retailer are eligible for a credit…

…You don’t have to do anything to claim your credit, we have already added it to your Amazon account. We will automatically apply your available credit to your purchase of qualifying items through Amazon, an Amazon device or an Amazon app. The credit applied to your purchase will appear as a gift card in your order summary and in your account history. In order to spend your credit, please visit the Kindle bookstore or Amazon. If your account does not reflect this credit, please contact Amazon customer service.

I haven’t bought that many e-books but I don’t remember buying them from Apple, but I guess they were in cahoots with Amazon somehow.

I don’t seem to have gotten anything, but D did. Not sure how that happened. :frowning:

Woo hoo!!! $200.37!!! I buy A LOT of Kindle books.

On the Amazon site, you can find the amount you got in the “Giftcard Balance” section.

Oops, I guess I misread the email. You’re right, I can use it on Amazon, not just in the Kindle store.

Oh great! I just told my MIL she could use it because I thought it had to be used on Kindle books.

Wow, I don’t see any credit, and I have sure bought a lot of Kindle books!

MTA: I see this message now: There is no eBook settlement credit associated with this account.

That’s a bummer - I know I bought Kindle books in the period of time they mentioned. :frowning:

I checked my order history, and there are a BUNCH of Kindle books I ordered. I wonder if I can contact someone to ask about it.

I’m on a live chat right now. The Amazon employee is checking into it for me.
