In and of itself, I don’t mind having the USPS delivery my package. What I do hate is how there is no tracking. Tracking only applies to USPS tracking–but they are just the last leg. I can’t see if it’s been shipped and going across the country, during that time I just get that it “hasn’t been received by the USPS”. When I finally get something it’s already been at the sorting facility and is “out for delivery” . Not really helpful tracking if all I get is that last day.
My annoyance right now is that while we do have snow and poor driving conditions Amazon
has not attempted a delivery. Ok, I can live with that. What I wish they would do is offer us the
option to pick things up. We, as well as our neighbors, have been driving out for days now.
I am waiting for many items. Thank goodness none need to be mailed.
Still, how about an email saying our items can be picked up at one of their lockers as a choice.
We’ve had years when the package would make it to the UPS distribution center, but the trucks wouldn’t be able to make it out of the lot due to its spot on a hill. The hazards of ice in the PNW. It’s annoying when you know it’s here and can go out for delivery, but the trucks are a no-go.
A couple of years ago, Nordstrom had a lot of things with 2-day delivery. I admittedly ordered late before Christmas, but they were saying it would make it, no problem. Three days later, it was Christmas Eve, the UPS truck came down the cul de sac at 7pm, stopped for 5 minutes, turned around and left. Shift over. No adjustments, nothing. I’m brick and mortar shopping this week.
I’m still waiting for many of the Cheesecake Factory giftcards I ordered on 11/27. They were supposed to have arrived at least a week ago by 12/12! Last year and in the future IF I use them again, I will use ecards only! I’m disappointed they haven’t offered any helpful solutions or anything for the inconvenience their slow delivery is causing. I got 2 cards on 12/13, 3 on 12/16, and STILL waiting for the last 3!
Normally I adore Amazon service, but within the last week I have had two shipping mishaps - both were for one-day shipping. I think the pressure to deliver in one-day is too much sometimes, but then the courier deceives to keep statistics from looking bad? First, while tracking a one-day delivery package I see it updated to “delivered” to front door. Uh, no, we’re home the whole time. Nobody came, nothing delivered. More than 24 hours later it does end up on our doorstep. Next, I had a one-day shipment that said delivery was denied because there was “no secure” place to leave it? Again, we were home at the time of the supposed delivery attempt, and our neighborhood is plenty safe for leaving it on the porch. So, a made-up excuse to skip one-day delivery in my opinion. That one was delivered on the third day (left on the porch safely btw). If I didn’t want one-day delivery I wouldn’t request it (indeed I often go with the no-rush delivery they offer in exchange for a credit). If you need something in a hurry I actually think it’s safer to order two-day delivery than one-day. It blemishes the otherwise stellar Amazon experience.
I’ve been getting amazon packages non-stop at our house…no problems here (also tho great weather and a fulfillment center so maybe that doesn’t count).
I spoke to my local USPS office about my missing package. The minute I told him they should have received it on 12/12 or 12/14, he told me that UPS never delivered it to them. Bad snowstorm in NJ or NY was probably the cause. But the online tracking info shows that USPS has had the item for 6 days!
UPS delivers on my state highway daily and generally does a decent job. Amazon deliveries are never a problem and often arrive days before their ETA.
OP. I think a one day delay during this very busy holiday season is to be expected. They systems are just overloaded.
Same here as with TempeMom - lots of deliveries…no problems. I haven’t tried 1 day though…only 2 day…
We have one lovely amazon package starting from the amazon facility in ny travelling as close as the next town’s post office and then mysteriously getting routed to nyc and then rerouted back to a local po. So far 5 day delay from the “will be received by date” and no explanation whatsoever. I’m ok as long as Thurs delivery stays Thurs.
Our local UPS are PANSIES!!! They will not deliver if there is any chance of nasty weather in the forecast. A snowflake!!! Armagedson!!! The USPS in my neck of the woods, OTOH, works like a fine clock. I guess it is all location-dependent based on what the others say.
I had an Amazon package ship via UPS with a handoff to USPS. Tracking info then showed USPS delivered and left on porch. Uh, no package on porch or anywhere else and I was home at the alleged time of delivery. It was just a small add-on gift so I waited to see if it mysteriously showed up. Sure enough a day later, a neighbor from around the corner knocked on the door and said a package for us had been left at their house…different house number, different street name. This happened once before with a different neighbor also during December. I think it must be due to seasonal help that is not as efficient as the regular delivery people. Normally our Amazon deliveries run like clockwork.
