This is cool. Don’t get me wrong, Amazon has its issues but since this is the system we have, we have to take what we can get. This would’ve been awesome when I was on food stamps because there are things that are just flat-out cheaper (especially in bulk) than at my local supermarket.
I know lots of low income families who do not have a supermarket within a commutable distance (for example, Detroit doesn’t have a grocery store within city limits). Plus there are often transportation issues, time issues, etc that just make it extremely difficult to regularly get to a store. I think this will be a godsend to many and I hope it ends up making their lives a little easier.
I have to agree with you @romanigypsyeyes . Flaws and cons with this for sure but for many people - as you mention with transportation problems, neighborhood safety problems, disabilities, etc. - or more than one of these limitations - this could be a lifesaver.
What is a “valid electronic benefits transfer card” - is this something only used for food items???
@abasket “Food stamps” aren’t actual stamps anymore… instead people receive what’s essentially a debit card that their benefits are loaded onto (the “EBT” card = “Electronic Benefits Transfer”).
