Ambassadors Abroad Lead America

What is this
Did anyone else ever recieve this "invitation"
is it a good program?

I've been getting this invitation for the past year or so now. It probably is a very good program, but I can't get pass the price tag. If they want me to attend that bad they should pay for air fare and lodging.

LeadAmerica is an INCREDIBLE program. I haven't done their study abroad program, but I attended one of their 10-day ones last summer and made some really great friends that I still talk to. :)

It is a bit pricey, but if you really wanna go you can always do fundraising and stuff...and I think they might have scholarships, but I'm not %100 sure.

i got their nice envelope today in the mail

can someone back me up when i say that it looked like a bar-mitzvah invite?

There are a number of these 'Leadership' programs and they are done for a profit. Never the less, I can only speak for LeadAmerica, my D went to two of them...They were very educational and socially high-impact experiences. SHe made stong friendships - four years later she still has some of the LA friends on her AOL buddy list and they chat.

I don't know what the "invitation" aspects really represent. When she was leaving the program they circulated post cards for the students to fill out and 'recommend' others, they also could refer other students on-line as an alumni. I highly suspect that most 'invitations' are a result of filling out information on web-sites for college bound students.

It's pricey but you get a lot for the least a lot of intangibles. It's definately not a "summer camp" experience, higher level.

My D raised money from the Rotary, Lions, family and friends. Wrote out a whole bunch of letters. Some programs you do because it looks strong on your application - this kind of program you do becuase it makes you a stronger person....

yea i got one too, but i dont see how they picked who to send it to or was it just random.

Anyone experience LeadAmerica's financial aid? I have plans for the summer, but the first session for the Student Leadership Summit fits in perfectly, so it is definite that I will apply.

There were several people at my conference who had received financial aid, it's definitely doable. :) LeadAmerica was one of the best experiences of my life. I'd definitely do it again, and the people I went with feel the same way.
