<p>DD is interested in math and prepping for the AMC-10 next February. Can anyone provide an idea of what score would be considered “helpful” for girls applying to schools that consider the AMC/AIME tests?</p>
<p>A passing score (>=120 on AMC10, >=100 on AMC12, depending on year) helps, but doesn’t really stand out at top math/science universities. A fairly decent AIME score would be nice. Even better, USAJMO/USAMO qualification. But for now, I’d focus more on preparing for the AMC10/12.</p>

<p>The last time she took an SAT practice test, she received an 800. If her SAT scores are great but her AMC scores don’t qualify for AIME, do you recommend omitting them?</p>
<p>It depends on what kinds of colleges she’s looking at applying to. I will say though for AMC10, don’t put the scores if they don’t qualify her for AIME. AMC10 scores qualify a TON easier than AMC12 scores.
If her AMC12 scores are really close to the cutoff, then I would keep them, because the AMC12 is more impressive.
