If a course was Incomplete one semester but successfully finished the next semester, would it count as anything other than the final grade? Would you have to list the Incomplete? The advisor says that there will not be an Incomplete left on the transcript and nobody would ever know…?

You have to report everything that is on your transcript. So, if your transcript says “BIO202–I” and “BIO202–A”, you have to list both, even if only the A was computed into your GPA. If your transcript only says “BIO202–A” and there is nothing that mentions the incomplete on your transcript, then you would not need to list it.

Your school would be the first I’ve heard of that does not report the first attempt on the transcript. In my experience, premed advisors aren’t always correct. My advice to you would be to request a copy of your transcript after you have received a grade for the class and check for yourself! Good luck.

Not that brown is by any means a typical school when it comes to transcript practices, but incompletes do not appear on ours if the prof submits a grade to replace it so it does happen.
