weird…I thought I applied undecided but I was admitted to the School of International Service…if I accidentally put down a major it had to have been International Relations but the acceptance letter did not imply what major I applied for.

well as an IR major…but i thought the admission stuff all came from general pool…i didn’t think the ir program had a rigid seperation like this…that is why i didn’t apply to g-town ( well and the fact that i would never never be able to get in)------the first sentence of letter said welcome as to the school of international service class of 2010-nothing about american --except the seal—also my packet looked nothing like what other on cc have described with the eagle on the frint/ corny looking and stuff----------------------------so did you have anything on your app that made you look interested in IR such as model un, family abroad or anything?

not at all, my essay mentioned a summer program I did but I thought I had left out the school and courses I had done (Columbia - IR and Politcal Economics). Don’t get me wrong, I have a striking interest in IR, that is part of the reason I applied to the D.C. schools, but I remember applying undecided to give myself a better chance of getting admitted and also because I was unsure if I wanted to pursue that major. I’m not angry or upset, if anything it may be a blessing, I was just surprised.

When I visited American last summer I’m pretty sure I remember them saying that if you applied undecided they would simply assign you to one of the schools… Not for any particular reason and you can certainly change it if you want to… Just for advising purposes or something like that

Only thing I’ve heard about non-social scienes majors is that they are doing some really good work in behavioral sciences.
