<p>Just had a friend from the States ask me go visit the American Embassy in Ottawa, Canada and ask for some M&M’s. Apparently they custom made M&M’s with US shield on them and they cost $49.50 to make each bag. Does anybody know if this true before I go and make a fool of myself. I searched the web and sure enough I can find them but I am afraid this someone’s idea of a joke.</p>

<p>No idea if Embassy M&Ms exist, but don’t believe the $49.50 a pack price tag. Anyone can get personalized M&Ms made - the cost for a “kit” containing 20 bags is around $40.</p>
<p>We ordered custom made M&m’s and I can guarantee the price was no where near that amount. 10lbs were around $200, and that was retail. The government would get them wholesale.</p>

<p>I have actually seen advertisements for custom M&Ms over the last couple of days including here on CC! They are not as expensive as you would think…</p>

<p>Take a tour of Wheaton Colleg in Massachusetts. At the end, they give you M & M’s in Wheaton blue and white. Mars (of M & M Mars) is somehow affiliated with the school.</p>

<p>I bought them for my son’s senior recital. I’m sure when they are ordered in large quantities, they’re even cheaper. No different really that having pens, highlighters, letter openers, matchbooks, etc. printed with the Embassy name.</p>
<p>Lots of couples order M&Ms with their names imprinted for weddings. I am sure there are more expensive perks in all US embassies than customized candies.</p>
<p>I’ve heard Mexico can get them with an ‘M’ on them. I wonder how much extra they pay for them?</p>
<p>Thanks for all the info. It makes perfect sense now but I had never heard it before, I will have to find out if the Canadian Embassies do similar as they would be interesting to collect.</p>
