American History/Institutions Requirement

On Bearfacts when I click on Academic Record>All Grades to view my unofficial transcript, it says my American History and American Institutions requirement is Not Satisfied. But I’ve taken US History and AP Gov, which satisfies it…
is the website just not up to date because they haven’t processed our high school transcripts, or what? just wondering :)

I’m 99.99% sure that it’s not yet up-to-date. :D

Did you get a 3 or above on the AP test?

You don’t need to pass the AP test or get a 550 or above. You just need to have taken the US History course at your high school.

Hmm from what I know, the American Institutions requirement cannot be fulfilled through APs.

Also, they usually take awhile to update a student’s status, especially if they’re a freshman. Try contacting them, but I wouldn’t get too worried about it - Cal has no reason or motive to deny you the credit. As it states on Telebears, it may take up till the end of first semester before status updates for freshmen :)

from the berkeley website:

What you’re thinking of is the American Cultures requirement.

To the OP: You’ve satisfied the requirement, they must not have updated their records yet.

^Ah that’s right. American Cultures :stuck_out_tongue: Made a slip there.

What’s funny is I got a 2 on APUSH and a 540 on the SATII US History exam, so I was so down until I read that the requirement can also be satisfied through high school classes too.

Yeah…so doesn’t that mean that pretty much everyone has fulfilled the requirement? Since for UC’s you need one year of US history anyway…
