I’m thinking you mean Nick and Rayvon were the strongest tonight, not Clark?
Yes busdriver, Nick! Thanks.
So excited for our Garden State contestant - GO JAX!
Next week is the finale, and I just don’t care. Yawn.
Worst final 3 in Idol history. The thing I like about Jax the best? She has a hot mom. Nick had the most consistent night of all and deserves to go into the finale. He was smart in playing his guitar. I think Clark better be at his very best next week, or Nick wins. I wish Nick had a little more range. His songs all start sounding alike to me.
Nick has been the most consistent throughout the competition. I hope he wins.
The show is really on the skids, isn’t it? I haven’t actually watched it all season, just caught the performances online, and actually rarely listened to any of them to the end. It’s hard to believe there was a time when I was deeply invested in the show (actually voted), and just loved some of the contestants. As a fellow Connecticutlet, it was nice to see Nick become a finalist–New Englanders don’t usually get very far–but he’s quite ordinary, as is Clark. And Jax annoys me for reasons I can’t put my finger on.
Nick is the most bland singer I have heard in the finals. Clark has talent but lacks the natural charisma of someone like Keith Urban. Jax has spurts of great talent and the weird pop moments of bad song choices. MommaJ and I agree.
Maybe Idol has run its course.
It’s too bad that Harry Connick Jr. wasn’t on idol years ago; I find him interesting and sometimes I learn something. Keith Urban can be interesting, but he’s getting a bit repetitive (although I like how he talks with his shoulders; more fun than just talking with your hands
). JLo, well, I don’t get it and probably never will.
You aren’t supposed to get JLo. You’re just supposed to watch her and be awed by her beauty (created by a 20 person entourage).
So is the finale with three people next week? Or are they going to reveal the final two on Wed, and do the finale then?
Really, NIck most consistent? Rewind 8 days ago. At that point, Clark seemed to be able to do no wrong. And just a few weeks ago, Nick was sweating it out in the chair fearful of being voted off.
I really like Clark. Love his voice when he is on. But don’t know if he has the staying power.
I think Nick is a nice guy. Good looking. Voice? One note. Over and over. Lots of energy, but lacks singing talent for me.
Jax - she may be a cool chick but I worry that any fame she may receive would swallow her young self right up.
Maybe they will have growth over the summer. Good luck to Scott with whoever he gets. Actually, I can’t stand Scott!
I’ll always watch Idol as long as it’s on. But admit to really FF’ing through some of last nights performances. Ryan seems like an afterthought this season.
The last “big” winner IMO was Phillip Phillips.
Don’t forget, next week’s finale is Tuesday and Wednesday.
I think I agree with you, abasket. Except I never appreciated Phillip Phillips.
@abasket, I agree about Scott. Although we have no grounds for this, my wife and I think he’s creepy. Tonight I wondered if he uses Botox or something to make his face so strange when he talks, and that perhaps that’s it. I’m sorry if it’s unfair, but I think he’s skeevy.
I agree about Scott–I don’t like him either.
I think Nick has been consistent–to the point of being a bit monotonous. Has Nick ever been in the bottom two? Obviously not, since Rayvon was saved every week.
Well, I just saw JLo in concert tonight-- well I guess its now officially last night - Thursday night (at DH’s conference). She does put on a pretty good show.
So glad to hear that I am not the only one who finds Scott creepy! Can’t put a specific finger on it ,but yeah!
Monotonous is not the same as consistent to me. I agree, he is monotonous, but I don’t see that as a plus. His performances/voice range is very one note. He is more prone to songs that require a big band sound behind him, which kind of washes out any major flaws in his voice. Has Nick done anything that shows the vulnerability of his voice? Without a lot of instruments behind him? Clark has put his voice out on the stage nearly alone (without much accompaniment many times.
At this point I’m kind of “whatever” about the winner. Though Clark is my favorite I sort of hope he doesn’t win and have to deal with Scott and the stranglehold of the AI machine. On the other hand, I don’t know that any of these guys can make it in the business WITHOUT the win (or maybe even WITH the win!!)
I’ll bet JLow (haha - low cut clothing) puts on an entertaining show. Did she keep her clothes on??
There were, IIRC, 6 costume changes and some serious booty shaking.
I think Scott is a huge improvement over Randy, why they got rid of Jimmy Iovine is beyond me but maybe he bailed.
I like Nick and think of him like Chris Daughty who I never thought had a great range either. We loved Phillip Phillips but I don’t remember him have a big vocal range either.
Sometimes I think we’ve become jaded to the talent on these shows. I remember there being some really sub par talent in the early seasons on AI. Now we expect everyone to have huge talent and big expectations, it would be great to find another Carrie Underwood but I think it will be hard. Especially in the music world today.
JLo has a pretty face and has spent some time at the gym. She’s not my “type” appearance wise, but that’s neither here nor there. She knows something of the music business. That said, I don’t recall EVER hearing an unexpected opinion or thought from her, nor one that wasn’t mealy mouthed tripe. The judges are all constrained in what they can say, but JLo seems perfectly content to pimp out whomever she’s “judging.”
It’s too often “about her,” although that’s not always her fault.
