Last night just seemed off - last week they had better singers, better stories, were more focused on music. Maybe the show editor was too distracted when putting together the clips for last night!!!
I really like Adam Lambert. I don’t even remember who won his season; I only remember him.
musicmom1215, Kris Allen won during Adam Lambert’s season.
So far this season I really liked Jess, the girl who jammed with Harry on the piano during the KC auditions.
" I really like Adam Lambert. I don’t even remember who won his season; I only remember him"
Kris Allen won. He may not have been as memorable as Adam, but he was a very good singer, and I definitely enjoyed listening to him.
I watched for about an hour last night, first time this season. Nobody struck me as particularly good, even the ones the judges raved about, and the whole format just seemed so tired. Maybe knowing that the last two winners went nowhere makes the whole endeavor seem especially pointless. (I realize The Voice hasn’t produced any stars either, but at least the show itself still has entertainment value.) I’ll try again when it’s down to ten finalists, but the show is clearly on its last legs. It was nice of Adam Lambert to fill in as a judge at the last minute when he has lots better ways to spend his time these days than to prop up a dying franchise.
Once the auditions and final cuts during Hollywood Week are over and the show goes live, I believe that AI will only air once a week. Should help somewhat with the declining ratings. I agree, MommaJ, the talent so far seems to be very thin. There seem to be more weak performers going through than in year’s past. Even thought Harry uncharacteristically let a couple of competitors go through last night that he normally shouldn’t have. I’m glad the show has minimized the awful auditions (and subsequent “shock/horror/outbursts”) by competitors that truly think they are/were special. That got really old many years ago.
Thanks for the info on Adam’s season. I remember Kris Allen. I liked him, but he obviously was not as memorable as Adam.
Was out of town for a few days so didn’t finish watching last week’s shows till last night.
While I certainly like Keith, Adam was a wonderful fill in. I was not a fan of Adam the singer so much, but have always enjoyed Adam the person. Sounds weird, but I feel he is an example of a guy who was raised in a family to have good people presence, manners, etc. Adorable when he re-auditioned!
Wow, NY had lots of interesting singers. Without spoilering anything (I promise not to do that!) I will say it appears (from the top 24 lists going around - whether spot on or not) that NYC is/was a hot spot for those we are going to see much more on this season.
Remember any of your favorites from last week???
Some decent singers today. Just watched the woman who lives in Minot with her AF husband and three little kids. Watching all the suck up and inappropriate comments to the judges just creeped me out. I hope she doesn’t go very far, because that’s hard to respect someone who is kissing butt so much…made me kind of uncomfortable. Plus, you got a husband who could be deployed at the drop of a hat, and three little kids, c’mon.
For me there wasn’t much from Minneapolis, except for maybe the last guy to close the show. I didn’t realize that Harry had some dance moves in him!
I thought that last guy had a very nasal tone. So far, I have been underwhelmed.
I can’t believe they are sending the cheerleader girl in the pink to Hollywood. Not good at all, what is wrong with them. Very cute, but just terrible.
Agree busdriver and I also can’t believe the drag queen got sent through. Plus several others too unremarkable to remember. New Orleans has laid a giant egg.
I read in an interview that Harry was hugely disappointed in his city! My dvr cut off last night - another week of auditions next week???
Final auditions next week. Talent this season is thinner than a roll of single-ply toilet paper.
“Talent this season is thinner than a roll of single-ply toilet paper”
Yes, and not just single-ply toilet paper made in the US, but that crap you get in Europe that feels like you’re using tree bark.
I was pretty disgusted with the selection of the drag queen. I don’t mind a drag queen on Idol at all, but it needs to be one with some talent, that you can enjoy. She/he was not even remotely adequate. I suspect they choose some types of personalities so they can have some conflict during Hollywood week.
Don’t forget that AI has already had a drag queen with some real talent, although she performed as a male when on Idol—Adore Delano (aka Danny Noriega) who, I think, went on to win RuPaul’s Drag Race. (I’ve been watching waaaay too much reality TV.)
I think they saved the best audition city for last… San Francisco! Hey, that’s in my backyard…
Didn’t have time to watch last night - glad to hear that is was worth it!
The last 2 nights of Hollywood Week were good. Like the 1-hour format. Team Dimples was the only team that I remembered so far in the group performances, which started tonight. This season seems to have an abundance of “quirky” singers. I especially liked Jaq MacKenzie who was in this group.
