I also thought there were some good performances. However, I wish they’d turn the judges microphones down. I’d like to hear the singers, not listen to Jennifer make constant comments. “Ooh, this kid is good, this kid is good.” Shuddup already!
Only got through Wednesday’s show so far. I THINK I like Jax too. My other favorite - Trevor, the 16 year old science nerd with the glasses. Really nice voice. Just needs to turn down the theatrics a bit. Also like Savion.
I don’t think it’s going to be difficult for them to pare it down to the final 20.
I can’t remember the name of the guy on Thursday who was really great. I believe he’s a musician or voice coach, sang a ballad that they let him get completely through. He is definitely going far. Now if I can only start remembering names!
I like Jax, but that weird budding romance that they have set up for her (Thursday’s show), just seems so fake and for the camera. Actually, kind of creepy, to have the guy’s mom say he is a virgin, and then flash to the romance scripted by the producers.
^ I seem to recall that one year they did something similar with a couple other contestants… Not the mom/virgin part though.
I was referring to JaQ the brunette, not JaX the blond with that “x” on her cheek. I didn’t think the guy Jax likes should have gone through.
Why am I not hearing what’s great about Jax? She’s so affected. And the facial tat annoys me unreasonably.
I used to be such a fan of Idol. This season I’ve only watched portions of a few shows and caught some auditions on another site. Not to suggest I’m Everywoman, but my lack of interest doesn’t bode well. Anyone know how the ratings have been compared to last season?
I like Jaq. I think she is talented and she sure is cute. The ‘dimples’ group were all talented and cute. I agree with you about the guy Jax likes. I was amazed that he made it through. I’ve been surprised by a lot of them, truth be told. True talent seems to be in short supply this season.
Have they always sent 200 kids to Hollywood? That seems like more than they used to send. Maybe I’m just not remembering well.
busdriver, I also liked the guy you mentioned that had a really smooth voice. I don’t remember his name, either.
alwaysamom, I think they usually send about 200 to Hollywood, but last year they sent a lot of them home immediately (in an airplane hangar, I think).
^^^^Oh yeah, that was brutal. Wasn’t there something about one bus being the one which was going straight to the airport or something?
I don’t recall seeing Jess Lamb in Hollywood Week? If you recall, she was the girl who jammed on the piano with Harry at her audition in KC. I agree there is a small group of elite talent this season. What I am noticing, however, is that there seems to be more performers who play instruments. I really enjoy artists who do self-accompaniment.
I think they have many people more to show. But sometimes I see someone who I thought was very good, and they don’t even show their performance on the later audition, and they just disappear. They really should ask me before they cut them!
I don’t remember seeing the cheerleader girl yet. She was cute and bubbly in her audition but her singing was average. I would like to see her do another song.
Two words: Trevor Douglas :x
The guy I liked is Cody Fry (or Fox, or a small word that starts with F
) He was in the group with the kids who went to college together. I look forward to hearing him sing a whole song.
Yes, he’s the one I like too. I’m sure he’ll be on AI close to the end. I think you’re right, Fry.
They should call tonight’s show the “Grenade” group auditions. At least 3 groups performed it.
Or because some people bombed out?
I noticed that, too, jshain. I’m sure they chose that because they already knew the lyrics and would not worry about forgetting the words when on stage, but that song is still running through my head this morning!
Cody Fry has a beautiful voice. Hope he goes far.
