I feel like TPTB at ABC had this grand plan from the very beginning to right the wrong that occurred last season when Laine went home too early. Beginning with the impromptu (my a**) audition, to his “new and ‘improved’ look”, to continuing the Katy swoon (which, for me, made her unwatchable). TPTB seemed to put much more emphasis into transforming Laine than most if not all the others. Jeremiah may not have made it to the Finals. But, for me, he is the one I would pay money to go see— even if it might be on Broadway.
I loved Jeremiah and Katy together. He should have been in the final 3.
I’m happy for Laine but Alejandro had my votes and now my $$. I downloaded his songs and they will go in my regular rotation.
Jeremiah sings every note. You can actually hear every word. He is by far the best one this year and although I like Laine, he was not the best vocally. That being said, the whole package is important on Idol and I think Laine had that.
Top moments for me were Dimitrius and Adam, Jeremiah and Katy, Alejandro’s hometown package.
Though I still think Alejandro whispers too much and his songs are a bit same-y, at least he resisted the slick packaging and was himself the whole time. I have to respect that. I think in the end it is best he didn’t win, maybe he will pull an Adam Lambert. He seems to have famous fans (Ben Harper, Stevie Nicks) who might be willing to work with him.
Madison had a less than perfect night but I still like her (she looked so much better in jeans and flannel shirt during hometown than in the remnants of Liza Minelli’s closet they made her wear every week—she’s only 17 for pete’s sake).
I think Maddie’s nerves got to her a bit last night, as she was a bit pitchy and off key. Agree that her outfits seemed to be at times ill-fitting and too glittery for her persona.
In Madison’s Kelly Clarkson song, it seemed like she couldn’t hear the music. I thought I saw her touch her ear piece. Anyway, something seemed off with that whole song.
Madison did sound off last night. And I agree that the way the have been “packaging” her has been awful. They need a new stylist for this whole show next year. Laine looked ridiculous by the end of it.
Does Alejandro have parents? A family? All they showed were his niece and nephew all season. He did mention not getting a lot of support so wonder if they are estranged. At least he didn’t try to get votes for a sob story but I did feel bad for him when the other families were there. Think that is why they did a “hero” theme on mother’s day rather than a. Mother’s Day tribute as they have in the past.
Who of the group’s music do you think we will be hearing in 10 years?

Alejandro is doing 7 night (intimate venues) tour (so far) starting in Pomona in July. I am planning to put my money where my mouth is and make my way to Pomona.
Closing night will be in his hometown, Pomona, at The Glass House July 17; Other dates include The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles July 15; DC9 in Washington D.C. on July 8; Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 9; Sonia’s Nightclub in Boston on July 10; Subterranean in Chicago on July 11; and the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco on July 13.
My assumption, based on how “quickly” these were announced is that they were all set prior to the finale, and he’s on his way.
