DontPanic1: Alfred E. Newman–ROTFL. You’re absolutely right!

DontPanic1, What? Scotty wasn’t the mean one during “hollywood week” - you mean the one who kicked the kid out of his group? I can’t remember that guy’s name, but it wasn’t Scotty!

I don’t find him attractive and I’m not a country-fan, but I really like his voice.

Yup. Alfred E. Newman - bingo.

I don’t remember anything odd about him during group night in Hollywood week, though.

Scotty was in the same Hollywood Week group and said afterward that he wished he had spoken up when the young man was thrown out of the group. The one who ousted the kid was a Karaoke DJ from the So Cal area, but I cannot remember his name either.

Ah, you are right jshain. Now I remember. But he’s what, 17? I think we can forgive him.

That guy’s name was Clint something (Junebug?) He made it to the top 24, but America didn’t vote for him, probably because of that Hollywood week incident.

I think Scotty is getting more comfortable every week and I’ve always loved his voice. I’m liking Lauren more and more and Casey less and less as the weeks go by. I like James, but don’t care for his type of music so I would never buy his CD. I was pleased with the one voted off tonight. ;)

Exactly - Scotty said that as he was sitting there awaiting his judgement for the top 24, so it seemed insincere to me; like atoning at the day of judgement. I admit, I could give him the benefit of the doubt.

musicmom, That’s it! Clint Junebug GAMBOA!!! Actually, I think he may have done well if he had survived a little longer…

After Haley’s performance with Casey tonight, I am really glad she did NOT go home. She and Casey were fantastic! Great chemistry (those rumors of her and Casey as a couple just may be true), almost as if they’ve been performing for years together.

Kelly Clarkson can reinvigorate her career as a country singer. She still is one of the best who have ever won Idol, imho.

Paul was really deserving of going home after his performance last night and so was Haley but, unlike Paul, she really redeemed herself tonight in the results show.

I think that incident actually gave him alot of votes. It was rather memorable that he said he wished he would have spoken up, and that wasn’t the “type of man that I want to be.” Very few of us, at that young age, would have spoken up, nor would we have felt badly enough to make that comment.

busdriver11, I’m leaning in your direction on your observation, however there is a chance he thought he might have also been cast in a poor light in the foreseeable future and that’s why he made the statement afterwards. I actually think he is very savvy, way beyond his years.

I agree, jshain, he is very savvy. And I wouldn’t want to be cast in the same light as Junebug either! Wonder why they didn’t come down on the rest of the group too, but maybe because they didn’t make it any further. I can’t believe he is only 17, but he is going to be a big star. I’m not a huge fan because I don’t really care for country, but I’ll bet you we see him in the finals.

Once again, Stefano has escaped leavin’–how many lives does the guy have?

I read somewhere that it’s hard for anyone but CWBs (cute white boys) to win Idol, because teen age girls are the ones who do the most voting and they like the CWBs. Have you noticed that Casey is cleaning up his act, little by little…cutting his hair and thinning his beard? Smart move, Casey!

Great duet with Casey and Haley. If only Haley were more consistent week in and week out…

Lauren’s duets with Scotty are always entertaining–more so than either of them singing separately. I suppose the first time those two do NOT do a duet, we’ll know that one of them is in the hot seat.

I also loved the Casey and Haley duet. I didn’t know Haley had the scatting in her but I liked it.

As far s Lauren and Scotty, I think Lauren’s voice is just a natural, but she may not have the sophistication in her years to be able to do anything but sing strong covers. I also feel like she either has been sick or is just stressed, because her energy has been down for a few weeks. Yes, great personality, yes, great voice, but I want her to stop playing sweet and cute… show us what else you’ve got. And Scotty, great voice, but I’m getting tired for the country covers and twang.

Well I didnt expect him to make it to the end, but I will miss Paul. I loved his unique voice and always enjoyed his performances. I will follow his music outside of AI. Tho I think Scotty’s voice is good, I cant stand to watch him sing, looks like he’s eating the microphone and those eyebrows!

Only saw the last half of the show last night. What song did Haley and Casey sing?

I suspect that is why many AI winners haven’t had gobs of success after AI. Even if they don’t write their own songs, they need to find original songs that they can record that can strike a chord with America.

I think the way Scotty holds the microphone is weird. I also am aware that probably is a rather petty complaint! This is really a bit of a race now…I see James and Scotty (via the country fans) making it to top 3 for sure…but that #3 slot??

Haley and Casey sang Moanin’, a jazz standard.

After last night I would definitely pay to see Haley and Casey sing at a jazz club.
