yea, I’m too lazy to look for the old thread…

so what does everyone think of Steve and Jennifer? I thought I would hate it but surprisingly I think it’s a hoot…

so what does everyone think of Steve and Jennifer? I thought I would hate it but surprisingly I think it’s a hoot…

so far…I agree.

I’m watching it. It’s not thrilling me. I can’t quite figure out if it’s because of the change in judges or if I’m just getting bored of American Idol.

Wow, 51 chosen in the first city?

Agree, nysmile, seeing those two in tears of happiness and hugging each other brought tears to my eyes!

I cannot believe how many 15-16 yr olds were profiled tonight; seems much more than usual; gonna be a lot of babysitting in CA…hopefully they can handle the pressure…

alwaysamom, I was happy to see the young man (16 years old) from the Bronx get a chance to move on. The bond between him and his twin brother is beautiful. They may not have had an easy life, but they seem to have a wonderful spirit and a loving family.

Jennifer is going to have to toughen up or this season will wipe her out. You can’t say yes to everyone. I have to admit, I am pleasantly surprised with Steven Tyler. He is kind and supportive.

Seeing the twin cry when his brother made it had me in tears. I just can’t resist wanting to watching and root for that boy. Those boys made it through the toughest of times holding on to each other…I hope he has a great time and that his brother gets to be there in person.

I’m not missing Simon…

Steven Tyler’s shtick is going to get old fast. I found his comments to the sixteen year girl on the length of her skirt creepy.

I kind of enjoyed it for the first time in many years but they let a lot of kids through who would never have gotten through in the past. Is there a limit as to how many they bring to Hollywood for the first big round of cuts? Do you think being the first group auditioning has worked in their favor? I was never really a regular viewer so I don’t know how many from each area they usually take, is 51 a lot?

And I agree, there were an awful lot of 16 year olds. California laws are very strict about continuing their education while on set, I wonder how that will be handled.

Was pleasantly surprised - did not expect to like Steven at all and was neutral on Jennifer. He was actually quite funny and I was pleased that they both seemed intently listening to the auditions and giving good comments. Jlo did have a bit of a hard time saying “no”.

As a veteran AI watcher, I decided to just not expect what we have seen in the past. It’s a new edition, new people, new twists - I’m willing to go along with it.

Steven Tyler is 62 years old. I did not like the way he looked at or commented on the young girls. Randy has dignity when he comments about a person’s looks.

I agree Shyanne; I thought it bordered on sleazy and creepy. Maybe they’ll tone it down in the future.

And since when was Steven Tyler not “creepy”?..I guess I should have qualified my post; he usually makes me gag actually; yes, inappropriate last night, but didn’t make me want to run to the bathroom until the comments about the young girls started…they may have to reign him in on that…

Simon often did the same thing with the younger women - maybe not the teens but definitely the 21 year olds.

Remember that the producers can cut and paste video together to give us at home whatever impression they want. Some people probably do tune in to see that sleazy stuff - the knocks on the rejects, etc. What we see is just a small representation of what really happened on those days.

^^that is definitely true; maybe that’s why they decided to show mostly the youngins who were put through…

Why do we focus on the judges instead of the talent? I realize that the audition portion of this show is more about the judging, but when we finally get to the final 10…the judges should be overshadowed by the talent. Keep in mind that we may not even see all the top 10 during audition week.

The problem over the last few years is that the incredible talent was not there. I assure you if we have another Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Daughtry etc year…no one will care about the judges at all. We will only be discussing our favorite singers…as it should be. So here’s hoping for some great talent…that is the only thing that will put IDOL back on top.

The only thing my dad (age 86) had to say was to point to Steven Tyler and ask “Who is that ugly guy?” With JLo up there, it really was like beauty and the beast at the judges table.

He has had some scary work done after spending the majority of his life in a drug and alcohol induced stupper. I can tell that he is compasionate towards the young folks because he is a Dad and Grandfather. Being a parent changes everything…Simon was not a parent and it showed.
