There’s video imbedded in the story. It tells a lot. Apparently, is a very strong Christian, which tells us why 1) he loves Josh Turner and “Long, Black Train” so much, and 2) his reaction to Lady Gaga. If you stick with the whole video he quotes Scripture at the end.

I grew up on country music so I love Scotty (though, when singing side by side with Turner, his vocals obviously aren’t as rich, though still good).

Those are softball choices for Scotty and Lauren.

did the first part of Haley’s Led Zep song remind any one else of Maria Muldaur but more on pitch? (don’t flame me for that. Maria had her own deal, made up for it and I saw her several times)

I have never been a big idol watcher. Surprised how the finalists (except Haley) tend so “Country” in style. But I am relieved to not have to listen to the constant embellishing that characterized so many early idol finalists. I loved Haley’s performance (the first one) with her dad. Did not even notice her fall till the judges pointed out how very well she handled it. Then i re-wound the DVR and watched it. I am VERY impressed with her poise.

Love the dads tonight! Haley’s dad playing the guitar on her Led Zeppelin song was so cool. And Scotty’s dad singing “Baby, lock them doors and turn the lights down low” - priceless! :D

Lauren didn’t impress me at all tonight. I hope it’s Scotty and Haley in the finale, too, and I’d be happy with either one of them winning.

I think it’ll be a twangy twins finale, and I for one will not be watching for the first time since the show debuted. I don’t care for country music anyway, and Scotty’s type of singing makes my skin crawl (I have to leave the room when he opens his mouth), while Lauren is the most generic female country singer ever. What a disappointing season. it’s like the Tea Party took over Idol…

Lauren needs to fire her clothing stylist for the 1st number. I’m not sure there could have been a more unflattering, unattractive outfit on her. 2nd and 3rd song dresses were very nice…but that first one was a reject.

Not surprised at all to hear about Scotty’s strong religious background. I still think that’s the reason why earlier in the competition he didn’t sing the Harry Nilsson song he had rehearsed – that was from Midnight Cowboy.

It’s time for another girl to win. I think it might be Haley.
