american oppurtunity tax credit question

long time since i last frequented these forums, but i couldnt thing of a much better place to inquire so here goes

has anyone managed to get a substantial amount or anything back from this at all

i ended up paying about 700-800 out of pocket during the year and excpected to get at least a small percantage of it back, since its my understanding that you get 100% of the first 2000, and 25% of the 2000 after that, but i got absolutely nothing, so there must be a requisite or a threshold i was never aware of, my combined household income is slightly over 50,000, so it definately wasnt that

anyone have any insight to offer, itd be much appreciated

“back in my day, college was cheap. and to your request, i think theres an app for that”

its not horribly expensive really, its just inconvenient when numerous sources have “proof” of a tax claim to get some tuition back and vague information on who it does or does not apply to

although in 10-20 more years college will require people to sacrifice their first born or something equally as insane, tuition explodes upwards as classes are cut left and right, it seems almost, you know, counterproductive

haha, as for there being an app(app for what, I wonder) that instantly finds people opinions on topics posted randomly in forums, that would be epic, but i know not of such a glorious construct
