America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

The liitle rapper surprised me tonight. Of course it had much to do with the great choice of song. But the kid delivered beautifully.

I wonder how long Stacy and Leroy will escape their reality. Only thing that can save them is people getting tired of the group. I do not believe the script calls for Paula to be without a group. And yes I changed channels when Drew started s i n g . .i n g. Her tempo has become unbearable. But she is a Simon girl!

How on Earth did Astro survive with that kind of attitude? I am appalled, truly am.

That’s HOW he survived!

I notice he almost never smiles. He’s got it down pat.

It will be interesting next week how Astro performs. Tonight was humbling for him, but I have to remember he is only 14.

Thought it was good that Drew was called at the end. I think she has gotten overly confident. I do think she has an extremely large fan base, but she really needs to spice it up next week.

Awwwww…Wake up call. Still not sure humble is the way to go.

Tonight’s results show was awful, beginning with the opening group number. The only thing unforgettable about Rihanna’s performance will be those gaping, god-awful jeans with the garter belt and hosiery underneath along with the tartan sports bra.

It was a given that L.A. wasn’t going to send one of his own home but I have to wonder how close Simon came to giving the kid the boot? If Astro doesn’t get enough votes to keep him out of the bottom two with a good performance, what’s going to happen when he falters?

Rachel or Josh probably just became the front-runners once again, but I’m still pulling for Melanie Amaro to go all the way.

Hmmm…I missed the beginning…I guess Rhianna was on. If Astro is going home soon, I hope his moment paid off.

My W had the show on tonight. I didn’t pay that much attention but did listen to most of Astro’s performance. I didn’t like it. Basically, he can’t sing. All the actual singing was done by the backup singers. I suppose he’s good at the pure rapping but I don’t see how anyone can compare him to the people who actually sing.

I didn’t like his attitude at the end either but realistically, he’s a kid, and one with an attitude, so no one should be too surprised that he’s not exactly graceful in this area.

^ You are right. More surprising to me, was how he handled"it up unti now. This last piece made him seem more like a regular kid. I am curious about how those here would describe “his attitude”.

I’m guessing something a little “more” than confidence, and that that is a bad thing.

Hopefully he learned something. His Step father is at the show with him. Time for them to have a talk. If I were his mother I would have a chat with him…

I was out of town this week and missed both shows. I gather Astro was in the bottom two, but who went home?

^^^^^Stacy

I saw a different side of Astro tonight. I was touched that he was taking being in the bottom two so hard, but again annoyed that his attitude was misplaced. He’s so young really, and he’s handled himself so well up to now, so I’m kind of glad the judges let him stay. Stacy is lovely, but I think the pressure of this whole thing was too overwhelming for her; she was not able to stay on tune this week, which may have been a result of the stress more than her talent.

I’m glad Drew got a wake-up call. She has a long way to go to be ready for pop-dom, so maybe this gave her a shot.

Now Astro … why doesn’t he at least try to sing a little? His rap is right on and his attitude (when he’s not acting 14) is terrific. Please please just sing once. He clearly is musical and has soul.

Until next week…

although i hated astro’s attitude…i saw my youngest in him…while trying to act tough and present major attitude, there was a tear running down his cheek. my youngest has major esteem issues, and acts uncaring and rude at times to cover up his hurt

not condoning astro’s attitude, we have daily struggles with many battles here because of son’s… but i know that is exactly as my son would react in that situation (so very different from my older two)

Just another reason that these talent shows shouldn’t have kids so young on them…

^For fun, I posted these links to performances of one of the favorite contestants in Australia’s XFactor 2011.

He’s 16 years old. Thought you might like to watch.

Thanks for the links, nysmile. Song 2 reminded me of James Durbin, of American Idol this past season… only better!

If you like the previous links, watch his performance of “Dream On”. Now remember, this kid is 16 years old!

Was Astro the kid who refused to do the dance number at boot camp (or hollywood week, or whatever they called it)?

motherbear- Yes, that was Astro who said something to the effect that MCs don’t dance at Boot Camp. After Thursday’s humbling result of being in the bottom two, he has definitely “fallen back to earth”.
