I know I’m not the only one on CC who likes to watch these types of shows. Sometimes I surf on YouTube and watch clips from similar shows broadcast from other countries. I came across “Australia’s Got Talent” and was blown away by this kid. I thought you might enjoy listening to some of his performances.

He is the winner of “Australia’s Got Talent 2011”.

i am way late on this, I know… don’t really watch these shows, but I just found terry fator on youtube the other day, and was blown away. Glad he won. Good singers are plentiful and don’t really impress me that much.

Can’t believe there’s no XFactor reviews yet tonight. Have been off of cc for a while, but had to come back and look for my peeps about tonight’s show. Fast forwarded through the nonsense portions (and show is not quite over for me yet on West Coast).

Blown away by: Stacey, Marcus and the first group (3 guys, didn’t catch the name) so far. Really like the L.A. Reid, the judge. ETA: And… Chris Rene, hip-hop, not really my style… but he is quite special.

I loved the opening night show of X Factor! Right from the opening number of Rachel Crow, the spunky little 13-year old with the beyond-her-years voice and Stacy Francis, the 42-year old who has one of the most powerful voices you’ll ever hear-- both from at the LA auditions. During the show’s next stop, in Seattle, the rapper with the velvet voice, Chris Rene, was really unique. For me, he really epitomized what this show is all about. I’ve never been a fan of rap but I’m a huge fan of his and thought the original song he sang was amazing.

It’s really refreshing to see a singing competition that incorporates the “best of the best” from ALL the current singing/talent shows: Contestant’s ages can be from 12 and up (similar to America’s Got Talent), groups are permitted (AGT again), individuals/groups/over 30’s/etc. will compete against each other in the coming weeks using a mentor (The Voice), etc. etc.

Overall, I think Simon Cowell’s newest offering of X Factor now makes American Idol look stale in comparison. I also appreciated the fact Simon didn’t try to do a copycat impersonation of his AI schtick. He didn’t try to be the center of attention, as much as he was previously when he was on AI, and in several instances he actually liked a performance when another judge (such as LA Reid) didn’t. On AI he was usually the one who didn’t like someone.

Looking forward to the coming weeks. Be sure and tune in!

I watched and I’m not really sure that I’ll watch it again. I don’t like that the audience screaming would drown out many of the people auditioning. I honestly think that this not only influenced the judges’ remarks but I also think that it masked the problems with some of the auditions.

I had really hoped that the show would focus solely on the talent and not advanced the people who have no chance, solely for laughs/entertainment/desire to humiliate. The final straw for me was the guy who dropped his pants. He clearly has some serious mental problems and yet they allowed him to continue jiggling his junk around the stage. Why wasn’t security brought in to remove him immediately? The only logical answer is that they knew he was going to do this and wanted it on the premiere of the show. And that’s just tacky. Had he done that anywhere else, he would likely have been arrested.

I completely agree with you guys that this exhibitionist was way out of line and should not have been allowed to continue. Simon’s reaction not only lacked any empathy but could get a boss who reacted that same way in the workplace into a lot of hot water. Obviously Paula, technically one of his or the producer’s employees, was not comfortable with this guy, had a negative reaction, but no immediate action was taken. Simon even seemed annoyed at Paula for walking off in the first place.

This was definitely a misstep to what I thought was a well-produced show.

I watched last night and will admit that I’m already hooked. (My husband, on the other hand, says its just more the same vis a vis American Idol, etc.)

I was impressed with several of the singers, but not really impressed with the 42 year old woman who sang. they went ga-ga over her, but she won’t last long. Her story was good, but her voice not so great. I did like the 13 year old girl and the hip-hop guy (and I don’t like hip hop music.)

For me, these shows get more interesting when they get into the actual performances, once the auditions are over.

My D and I watched X Factor last night and enjoyed the show. I do have to agree with alwaysamom that sometimes I think the audiance was drowning out the audition. I liked that they do not sing a capella on the show as I am sick of hearing all the American Idol screaming a capella auditions.

One has to wonder how much of a scripted act this is. We know that Paula was brought back because she will deliver an endless number of dimwit acts and utter non-sense with abandon. Simon is obviously orchestrating the “relations” among the judges, from sparring with the other music executive to “putting up” with the antics of Paula Abdul. And, her reaction was entirely moronic. After all, this is Paula Abdul and not a novice from St Mary’s. Showing outrage is expected, but running to the bathroom and returning as a battered victims was way over-the-top. And TOTALLY non-believable. Again this is Paula Abdul.

The fact that they did not stop the lunatic --or knew what he would do before-hand-- all indicates that this was a scripted event, including the all-too-willing participation of the show resident idiot. This clown showing up was no accident. And neither was having cameras escorting poor Paula for her bathroom performance.

What can be expect in the next weeks? More feuding between LA and Simon. More soliloquies from the Pussycat Doll to make us forget the better choice with the neat accent. And more of the typical Abdul mental contorsions with a probable wardrobe malfunction and a few meltdowns.

It works because it is the new world of entertaining.

PS Some of the people who showed up were quite remarkable.

I enjoyed the show. I loved the spunk and personality of 13 year old Rachel Crow–not an ounce of nervousness, but full of excitement and joy performing in front of the crowd.

I hit upon this show by accident. I really enjoyed it a lot! Though I totally agree with others about the pants dropping incident, as well as xiggi’s read of the predictability of it all. But I really enjoyed some of the better performances on the show.

BTW, did anyone notice the same screaming blue-haired girl (this time with a partner), who also appeared quite recently alone in the last segment of America’s Got Talent (when they brought out the ‘weirdos’ from the earliest auditions)? She seems to be making her rounds.
