For those of you who haven’t yet seen Thursday’s show, don’t even bother watching the first 50 minutes because it was a complete waste of time, and it was slim pickings after that in both Miami and Dallas.

Like nysmile said, Melanie Amaro WAS fantastic. I cannot ever recall an 18-year old that has sung with that kind of control. She cannot help but be a serious contender. My favorite of both nights combined. I also liked Brendan O’Hara, who was only on camera a brief moment. For me, those were the only two that stood out in Miami. Dallas also did not start out very well and it is surprising that this city did not produce more talent as well. For me, the only one that had any real promise was Caitlin, the rugby player and coach.

Disappointing show overall, talent-wise with just a “couple” bright spots. If the show includes groups as well, where are they?

I didn’t watch last night’s show but I just realized this morning that I had seen Stacy Francis a few times on Broadway back in the late 90’s. I happened to be talking to a friend this morning who was in a show with her back then and he asked if I’d seen Stacy on X-Factor. I hadn’t made the connection before that!

I watched parts of it … hard to beat the baseball action of last night. The X factor was definitely the collapse of the Red SoX. :)

PS At first glance, the producers packed the action in the first week. This one is already losing a lot of steam fast. Telling mere average singers that they will be a star is getting old. They visibly need to load the show with candidates who have zero chance in future rounds. But then the mediocre singers are every bit as entertaining as the better ones.

Fwiw, the Paula LaLaLand segments made for better TV than the moronic orchestrated bathroom scenes of a few days ago.

Not sure I agreed with L.A. Reid being on to this Josh kid or having him “figured out”, suggesting that he was somehow strategizing a makeover down the road. He seemed like a really down to earth guy. He would do well to get a little makeover at some point, but I don’t think it was somehow a gameplan of his. All the finalists will likely get a makeover of sorts, at least with their wardrobes.

Wow! The 14 yr old kid from Brooklyn who rapped “Quit lookin’ at ma mom…” was amazing. And I really don’t like rap at all, usually. He was so great that during his performance I felt like I didn’t need to watch any more of the shows, ever. There’s your winner! In any case, clearly he’ll be a star. Loved him. Also loved the tatooed 21 yr old car mechanic singing Jackson 5.

Usually when a contestant says “I have the whole package” they do not have ANY of the package. He really does have the whole package. If Brennin Hunt can get over the incredibly profound man-crush he has on himself and be just a tad more humble, I think he really has what it takes to go far. Simon was sure quick to volunteer his services in working with him!

Jazzlyn Little… they saved the best for last tonight!

Hunt has a TERRIBLE personality- he can’t get over himself. Every second he was not singing made me sick. Oh well.
Now that I think about it, it would be very interesting for Simon the God to work with him!

I really enjoyed Boot Camp on this week’s X Factor.

Overall, I think it so much more interesting than American Idol’s Hollywood Week equivalent, which tends to be a lot duller from a viewer’s perspective.

I also think the X Factor talent pool far exceeds that on this past season of American Idol.

I’m not sure it is fair that 8 group finalists are chosen when there seems to be so few of them in the first place.

I’m also looking forward to seeing the judge’s homes in the coming weeks, where each judge will be working with one of the 4 different group categories.

I really enjoyed the boot camp episode last night, too. So much better than all the childish drama in AI’s Hollywood week (I don’t want you in my group, her momma is helping them–no fair, I’m gonna throw a tantrum and go to bed…). X Factor seems a lot more…mature.
