America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

I liked Melanie, Drew, and I’m still an Astro-naut. And he smiled!

jshain: You are so right about the dancers looking like the (ridiculous) wheel flaps on big rig trucks! I kept looking at it and it just felt so slimy.

Overall, way too much production going on. Of course, I’m an oldster and it used to be just the band and their music without all the background stuff. Now, I think the generations today expect it.

I’m not a fan of rap at all, but Astro is growing on me. I wouldn’t buy his music but I think many others would, including my teens.

Amen!

I thought Drew did a great job singing her song, but like some of the judges, I would have loved it if she had gotten up off the chair half way through the song and sung it up tempo.

I wish they would subtitle the rap lyrics. I think that they are probably very inventive, but I can’t hear the words clearly at all.

I think Rachel may be on the bubble tonight…

^Agree, Rachel will probably be singing for her life on Thursday.

The voters presented the judges good choices. Finally!

Ooops! I shouldn’t be on the internet before X Factor comes on in the West. Now I know who is going home.

G’night Astro, from a west coast, middle aged Astro naut! You da man, boi!

Now I can stop watching…

I had to miss it tonight. Who were the bottom two and who went home?

Astro sent home directly. Marcus saved by three judges. Simon ticked off, and that means Drew did not make it. The save song was her besr performance, but the irritation factor was growing.

In the end, not being able to understand a single rapped word or spending three seconds on each letter was just too much for the voters.

***…whoa…Marcus in, and Drew and Astro out?

Xiggi…I am not following you…Perhaps you are rapping?

There is something else in the works here…Drew gets real, like Melanie with her accent…Jesus?

I watched a replay of last night’s show, followed by the results show, with my wife who hasn’t seen one minute of XF up until now. She was “blown away” by Drew’s voice, calling her an amazing artist and couldn’t believe she was only 14-years old with a voice like that. Yes, she has the same down-tempo style each week but that’s the kind of artist she is. I thought she was better than Marcus in the sing-for-survival, head-to-head competition, just like Leroy was better than him last week. I am really surprised that Marcus got saved two weeks in a row. Also surprising that Astro got bounced, but it IS a singing competition and he doesn’t sing. I was starting to really like him. The back stories of each contestant’s lives carry more weight than I would have thought. Probably why Chris Rene is still a fan favorite.

My personal favorite is Melanie and I’m glad she made it through. I’m under Mel’s spell…

Once L.A. Reid lost Astro, the lady judges weren’t about to send yet another of L.A.'s team members home (in Marcus) while leaving Simon’s team intact. Wonder if Simon thinks he should have been a little nicer to his fellow judges leading up to this week’s results show? I’m also wondering who would have gotten the fewest number of votes between Marcus and Drew, if the judges had been deadlocked?

Well, I was surprised that Rachel wasn’t singing for her life…

As soon as Drew started singing her slow tempo song, I thought, “Great voice, but if she doesn’t show the judges some up tempo stuff, the ladies are going to bounce her. They’ve made it quite plain that they want to see something different. If Drew doesn’t show them that she has the potential to expand, she’ll be out.”

She’s out…not surprised.

The look on Simon’s face as Drew was crying like a banshee on his chest! Clueless host asked Drew as she’s wailing “How are you feeling Drew”? Notice that Simon keep backing away from the host and refused to comment?

I would have disliked losing either Marcus or Drew but am not sad to see Astro go!

I think Drew and Josh have more interesting voices than the others…

Melanie is not doing it for me…

I can not stand the format where everybody has to sing some artists songs…

It’s ridiculous…

Frank Sinatra would have lost…singing Michael Jackson crap…

The contestants should sing what makes them sound best…

I guess I’m in the minority here but the whole bit with Melanie’s new accent is on my last nerve. Agreed she is a great singer but it’s as if they figured out she didn’t have enough back story so voila accent. Ya man.

I’m so sad that Drew is out. I’m convinced that Paula and Nicole voted against her just to spite Simon. It’s a terrible set up that the show is all about the judges over the singers. I’ll miss Astro, too. My favorites always leave early!

Melanie’s accent? Pullease.

If you listen to the first audition, you see her mom privately talking to her doesn’t even have that thick of an accent. I don’t buy it.

Moreover she had no accent originally-- this wasn’t a kid caught in the middle of two accents. I simply don’t buy she was faking it but now is speaking the way she normally speaks.

No where can you find any info on when she moved to the US (only that she was born on Tortola Is.). Obviousy they are just trying to play up the backstory or we would have heard many times over already about how she’s from the islands.

I will assume now this whole thing is rigged from the get-go. Cover her family story before the first audition. Then the stupidly, obviously fake ‘mistake’ of Simon’s that sends her packing…only to go to her house and bring her back. Now the accent. Looking back, I think she was all set up to win and probably always has been.

The whole accent side-story is weird. Expect her to have a new accent next week, LOL! Maybe a nice Sargeant Schultz one?

Perhaps she’ll start singing really sloooow too.
