Last spring a young woman worked where I do (small workplace…about eighteen employees).
for a few months. She missed quite a few days of work, just didn’t show up sometimes.
Finally, she just quit. She said she was leaving to support/accompany her bf on his quest for American Idol. We all privately just sort of rolled our eyes and said “good luck”.
I saw the bf on Thurs. nights episode. He made it through!

You know, ellemenope, I think you’re right. Now that I think of it, I seem to remember Chris Medina being in Las Vegas. I’m not sure why I remember that but I liked him and was sad when he was sent home. I think they may have used one of the theatres that houses a Cirque du Soleil show.

I think last year was the first Vegas (or VAGAS as one contestant had on a sign) show. Reed is an amazing all around talent. My guess is that he will probably not end up with a recording contract but will be courted by every recording company to PRODUCE talent for them—WOW. If I were a contestant I would want to be in his group. He can’t dance very well though.

That cowboy kid needs an attitude adjustment…

Reed was amazing how he pulled a great performance out of his hat at the last moment! It just goes to show you how amazing the professional performers in the AI band are…they can take any change in stride and run with it!

Cowboy kid is SOOO clueless. I’ve felt for all of his teammates…

Agree, Reed was awesome. Thought he was a little too schmaltzy with his group performance but redeemed himself nicely with the drum performance. JLo said to Steven that he reminded her of Casey from AI last season. Not sure I get the comparison other than the obvious unconventional choice of instrument to play. For me, there are many standouts at this point. I really liked Ariel, the petite 16 year old girl who was the opening singer in the “Hollywood Five” group performance on Wednesday night.

I always love the AI group weeks. I just love the harmonies, I guess. To me, this year’s 50’s-60’s group week was really good. DH, who NEVER EVER EVER watches any such shows… sat still for me to show him a couple a group I’d cued up on the DVR and then stayed seated to watch almost all of the groups. Either says it was all pretty good or that we are pretty old… because that is “our” music.

As to the AI group drama, I’ll take that any old day over the trumped up drama among the coaches/mentors on X-Factor. They seem to have upped the “let’s diss each other” among the coaches/mentors on The Voice this year… but at least they’re soft and kind of friendly about it. And they keep it fairly short. But it’s a time-waster just like the “who will I choose for my coach” angst. Oh well, you’ve heard me say it once too often, that’s why God invented the FFWD button.

Agree with you about the dithering that accompanies Who Shall I Pick As Coach…annoying to the max.

jshain-I took that comparison to mean he had a similar musical talent, pretty much could play any instrument, etc.

I wish AI would have put the top 24 show all in one night … I figured since I had taped 2 hours worth of show that I would see it all, but instead I only know the top 14.5, as one person’s fate is to be decided on today’s show.

No real surprises in the keep/send home’s from last night. I am SO glad they got rid of cowboy kid.

I agree, snowflake. They have always liked to drag things out for as long as possible. It’s annoying.

And if, after all that cliffhanging, they do not put Adam Brock through, I’m not going to be happy!

Agree, these results shows are completely unnecessary. Brief segments/recap of each singer actually singing and then long drawn out clips of them making their way to the “hot seat” waiting for their fate. After a decade plus of the judges trying to “trick” each contestant into thinking they’re going home, you’d think they would give this tactic a major overhaul. I think they should just announce the finalists and then show clips of them in the previous weeks that lead up to them being selected. Yeah I know, if they did that, no one would watch the auditions up to this point!

As I said in a previous post, I missed the last three episodes until last night. What happened to that dark-haired (maybe a blue streak?) quirky girl who resembled Lady Gaga? I think I saw her in one of the Las Vegas group numbers on the website, but I don’t remember seeing her in the room last night and she definitely was not in the hot seat. I think her name started with an A. Like Audrey or Amanda or something.

mmom, I believe Angie Zeiderman went home after the last group performance.

That was Angie Ziederman. She was in the group who were cut to make it down to the final 40 or so.

I’m glad jshain remembered her, because I thought you were remembering the blue haired girl from the Voice. :)

I’m just catching up on last night’s AI results, and I messed up on the taping so am not seeing it all.

I gotta say, I am head over heels for Heejun. I don’t realistically think he can go all the way; but I think there’s a great voice there and his own style and… to me… he is just endearing. Then they go and show that his “day job” is with special needs kids. Well, now I’m beyond head over heels.

Just a softie mom, here. Pay me no heed.

I agree, jmmom! Heejun is ridiculously special. I liked him from the get go and his voice is so not what I ever expect.

Now who will they let come back and have another shot? I’m hoping that very tall sweet guy who loves him mom and has a low voice gets one more shot.

I hope they don’t bring the cowboy kid back? He’s so irritating.

Amen to that, nysmile.
