America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Yes, they all NEED a machine, for better or for worse, sad to say.
Maybe Adam Lambert did not- he was a very savvy brander. Not sure what kept him out of the star path once he finished Idol, as he really had so much of what it takes- his lifestyle, possibly, and lack of discipline??? The machine can also help enforce discipline, I suppose!

PP gets away with what he does because he is so incredibly easy on the eye. His facial gimmicks work for that reason, too. But he seems pale and a bit cynical at the moment.
No update about his health???

RE: Adam Lambert—I absolutely loved Adam, who was on the first season I started watching AI. I truly think his over-the-top performance on ?(American Music Awards?–some big show) did him in. I had voted for him, bought his albums, and wore a tee shirt, and eagerly awaited his appearance, but it was over after that embarrassing showing. I still hear his music every once in a while and compare current contestants’ performances to his, especially when they sing the same songs…I still think his were better.

I hope Adam Lambert makes a reappearance sometime. He’s HUGELY talented. I think most of the top five could be produced into stardom… but I find Holly quite generic and Jessica is young… but on a recording with the right song she could be really good. I do think it’s time for Phillip to go - he’s one note and would be like Taylor Hicks winning… shudders. I think he is a big talent, but he needs to get healthy. Joshua really is good and will be successful in the industry I think.

Lately I’m more of a fan of The Voice. I didn’t see any comments here on it - but I do like the finalists on that. More mature talents than AI.

I couldn’t help comparing AI’s final 5 to The Voice’s final 4 while watching last night’s AI. I think that if Joshua was on The Voice instead, he would be blowing away the competition.

Will AI have a bottom 3 tonight? I think the bottom 2 are PP and Skylar, even though I agree PP is easy on the eyes. Jessica’s 2nd song was great, but Hollie aced both songs. She has improved so much that I can imagine that there is still much more growth to go, which means she has potential. Jessica’s voice … it really can’t get much better, but her dancing and stage presence is so 16.

Joshua still has me going to church, so I’m rooting for him to take it all. He looks so scared right now because I think he knows he could possibly make the finals, so the reality is too close for comfort.

I loved the interaction with Jimmy and little Steven. Made me laugh several times.

I don’t know who “little Steven” was, but he didn’t seem “little” to me :-). I enjoyed his banter with Jimmy too.

Wow - the ColdPlay guy sounds further off-key than PP did. Awful!!!

I ADORE Coldplay! But I’m not looking for a technically perfect singer . For it, it’s about the “it” factor and how “it” makes me feel. Chris Martin has “it”!

Rats, accidentally found out who is gone…I have to be careful on the West Coast…

I peeked online, think the voters got it right, and am happy with the outcome. We usually agree, nopey, but not this time:)

I thought ColdPlay sounded great. Chris Martin is often a little off key, but not as much as usual. Strangely, though, Carrie Underwood sounded bad to me. I turned on the tv halfway through her performance, and initially thought it was one of her old performances on AI. I thought, she’s come a long way from that, then I realized it was live. I dunno, maybe it was my sound system?

Carrie Underwood DID sound awful. She screams when she sings usually, so either she does not have a real voice, or she has ruined it.

Jessica does not seem bonded with the other contestants at all. For some reason it bugs me. Makes her seem a bit weird.

Well, I think that Hollie was Skylar’s best buddy and is Joshua’s best buddy. Jessica and Phillip are kind of on the fringe.

I think this is one of Carrie Underwood’s cross over attempts…maybe the song sounds better in the studio version. There was something muddled about the live version. Also, she stayed on the stage in one place for the longest time–like an AI contestant in the early stages–and I know she can move now! Maybe she had to stay in one place for the wind machines to work well…

Well, I will miss Skylar. I really figured that Joshua, Phillip and Skylar would be the top 3. Now, things are up in the air for me. Phillip phoned in his performances on Wednesday, Jessica can really swing and miss (like with her Tina Turner number–agree with Jimmy about her outfit) and was lucky to get away with it this week. Hollie has found a confidence that is really helping her and Joshua just keeps putting up the points, week after week.

It will be interesting next week…

Maybe Carrie was afraid if she moved that dress would fly up over her head? That slit seemed to be under some serious stress with the wind machine!

I was holding my breath, seemed like a wardrobe malfunction about to happen!

I read an interview with Carrie and she says that she is very nervous performing on the AI stage…even after all these years! Brings back all sorts of memories–some pretty stressful ones, obviously.

I remember watching a youtube video of Carrie and Steven Tyler doing a duet that was just fabulous. I’d love to see something like that again!

It is still a mystery to me how Hollie is still there. Each week she looks stunned that she isn’t the one sent home. She is sounding better, but she is nowhere near the top of the pack.

If only Jessica had some style. She can sing, that is no doubt, her voice is gorgeous. But I have no clue who or what she is. She seems to just try to imitate the style of the person’s song she is singing. And it was extremely embarrassing to watch her try to imitate Tina Turner.

When all is said and done, I guess it will be Joshua making to the end. But one never knows, with all the upsets so far.

Each week, I’M stunned that Hollie isn’t the one sent home, LOL.

As soon as she starts to believe that she deserves to stay, that’s when she’ll be sent home. The world just loves to throw curve balls…

i like Hollie, and I think this week she had a confidence she hasn’t had before. Like maybe she just didn’t give a darn anymore or maybe she has a contract in the works. I hope she keeps that confidence. I also was concerned about Jessica’s dress. I found myself wondering what kind of undergarments one wears with a dress that short and tight! And hoping we didn’t get to see them (the undergarments). lol
