America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

ah thanks. so maybe the game delay was only on the east coast. here on the west coast it is just the entire re-run.

A great game was well worth delaying a show taped months ago. Actually, FOX should not have the show until baseball is over. It will be a while before the finale.

Ok thanks ccers. Just got up and was watching my DVR. I kept fast forwarding and rewinding…so confused until I remembered this thread.

I’m on the east coast too and was confused that my program guide said X Factor but there was baseball instead. I had to settle for watching Survivor.

At first thought I was torn between watching my awesome Rangers or the XFactor until I realized they were both on FOX so I wouldn’t have to choose. Assuming no rain delays or extra innings today, the game should not interrupt XFactor tonight. However both rain and extra innings are very possible.

Game has started. Will probably be another affair too dangerous for cardiacs. However, fans of DFW metroplex are slowly getting used to tight games. :)

Yay, Verlander!

Verlander is some pitcher! He is battling now.

Ok…the show was awful…boring and bad… Had to turn the channel.

Still on here. I liked Purple Rain

Agree with Dstark. This is turning into a farce for narcissistic judges.

They were lip synching - and not all that well.

I thought so too, but at other times, it seemed to be them talking and singing through really powerful mikes, with acoustics I couldn’t make sense of.

I thought that the sound equipment was phenomenal … didn’t see any signs of lip synching. The lady with the bangs that sang Purple Rain gave me tears … I really want her to get through. I also enjoyed the other over 30’s lady that belted out a song, but the one with the bangs would be my choice of the over 30’s. Not sure the previously homeless guy has the emotional strength to pull this off … I’m tired of helping him after each emotional moment, but he certainly has me watching.
In the girls under 30, I was hoping the girl with the platinum blond hair would be more confident … didn’t like her song or outfit, but I think with some coaching she could be a force. The first girl that went with the see through skirt is impressing me now that she remembered her words. In the under 30’s boys, the 14-year-old rapper really impressed me, but I wish he would show us his singing voice; he certainly has the rhythm, musicality and the confidence, but could also be too young to grab the young girl audience or the adults. I also like the possibilities with the crooner … very good looking, smooth voice, maybe a little corny, but the voice is worth it. Of the groups, the 4 friends (Answer?) have the look, the moves, and definitely the harmonies. I would go see them for sure. I also liked the possibilties with the 4 girls they threw together; they weren’t perfect, but they have so much good going for them that I hope Paula can see the potential. They certainly need Paula’s help with choreography.

I wonder if they did a live version and piped it in for them to sing along with, and then they spliced it in to blend with it for the actual TV show?? The performances seemed “produced.”
At Nicole’s, where were the back-up musicians??? Heard some pretty complex intrumentation and choruses, too???
There was no wind or the usual ambient noise one would hear outdoors… weird.

The houses were bloody amazing… Did the performers actually LIVE there, or at local hotels??

Simon’s set-up was different. No celebrity co-judge. Ego??? But then the voice coach and other lowly coaches jump in after watching from somewhere, and totally guide his impressions LOL

Soooo, did these performers get a lot of help from professionals preparing for these renditions?

They said at the beginning that Simon’s co-judge was supposed to be Mariah Carey but her plane was grounded because of Hurricane Irene. No word on whether she’d be joining him later.

I haven’t watched since the night that the crazy audition guy turned me off but I saw last night’s show. A few comments.

Those were not live performances. The vocals were obviously recorded and blended for the telecast. No sound equipment, no matter the quality, is going to be able to produce live outdoor sound like that.

performersmom, Simon explained that he had planned for Mariah Carey but Hurricane Irene had grounded her plane and she couldn’t arrive in time so he chose to go forward and coach them himself.

I had heard from a few friends that Stacy Francis was getting a little tiresome with the ‘woe is me, no one believed in me’ schtick. This woman was a Broadway actor for years. Someone obviously believed in her and she had no problem booking work.

DH and I thought it was funny that some of the performers were saying “when I win the five million dollars I will live in a house like this”. Let’s see one house was in Malibu, one was in East Hampton, one was in the south of France and on was in Santa Barbara. Five million won’t buy you much. We have lots of residential clients in Santa Barbara. Five million might get you through the first year by the time you guy, maintain, hire the staff needed and pay your property taxes.
DHs family has property in East Hampton. It’s about the same there. And somehow I really doubted they were in their homes. Maybe on the outside patios and using the maids bathroom or a porta potty.

And, isn’t the $5mm to go towards creating recordings, etc???

Supposedly…
