America's Got Talent, American Idol, XFactor, etc.

Well I’m loving the two young girls, Carla Rose and Beatrice? , and Vino Alan. But Tate Stevens is likeable and the public loves him, then there the three guy group (Emblem ?) and goodness knows the girls are loving them. Hard to say.

Absolutely love Carly Rose… Beatrice, not so much. I’m not a big country fan, but Tate has such a great tone to his voice. The voters definitely got it right, two weeks in a row! I, too, like Vino and also Fifth Harmony.

Is there a petition going around yet to bring back Steve Jones?

I’ve been watching and agree that KK is horrendous. I like Mario, though, and think he could do a decent job by himself. Wonder who decided two hosts were needed. I think there are some talented singers this year, but so far I am not “attached” to any of them. I think all the kids are charming and talented. I love Beatrice’s tone, but not so much the song choice the last two weeks. I think Cece looks awful with that bleach job…

Based on last night, the show might want to review the participation of the very young, especially the ones that do not seem overly stable, or seem to lack in parental guidance.

On the one hand, an amazing talent such as the current front-runner might emerge, but on the other hand the public meltdown of CHILDREN who have ZERO chance to winning the 5,000,000 are truly pathetic. Last year, we saw that yound rapper with a giant ego and the cute but limited singer imploding during the show.

Perhaps this could be traced to the early compliments doled out by the mentors who lead those yound minds to believe they could win, when the reality is that there is only ONE winner who takes it all.

It seems that the show might want to err on the side of limiting such displays, or perhaps go to a break when it turns into a sobbing and humiliating affair for … children.

Luckily my DVR cut off (due to the football game) so I didn’t have to see Beatrice cry. That must have been awful. I liked her, don’t know why she didn’t get votes, but of course I didn’t vote either. Tate’s fine, but aren’t there hundreds of country singers out there exactly like him? Carly Rose is the only one that makes sense to win. She actually has the talent, and is young enough to improve. I sort of like Emblem3. Yes, I know they come across obnoxious, but it makes me happy to watch them having so much fun.

Agree that the show should rethink the age minimum. There have been two many instances thus far of the teens being clearly unable to handle the rigor. Just watching Beatrice practically cry during every elimination was evidence enough.

I’m starting to think, though, it’s time to rethink this entire format. From the horrendous show hosts, to the over-produced songs, one could go on and on.

Simon clearly thought he could do anything he wanted and be successful, but he must be having some doubts.

Diamond White had her best performance of the season. She is only 13 years old and she is one tough little competitor. I don’t think there is much chance that they are going to rethink the minimum age requirement, because that is one of the main things that differentiates this show from AI. When you add Carly Rose to the “kiddie equation”, you have two of the strongest competitors of this season-- regardless of age.

In one of the earlier shows, they were playing up Beatrice’s stressful home life–both parents were unemployed and they needed her to win to keep them above water. If she really believed this, no wonder she was so upset, and shame on the adults in her life for putting that kind of pressure on her.

The problem isn’t necessarily the age limit, it’s the added suspense and manufactured drama. Simon clearly did the right thing by pulling Beatrice, however she should never have been put into the competition in the first place. Demi questioned if she could handle the pressure when she put her on her team. If they (Xfactor) are going to be responsible, young contestants should really be evaluated prior to the final selection, alone and with their parents, to asses their ability to handle the stress of this type of competition. Clearly there is a world of difference in maturity, family support, and ultimate goal between Carley and Beatrice through no fault or luck other then the family they were born into. Both talented, wonderful young ladies, but one with the weight of the world on her shoulders, the other with the freedom to explore her dream with no fear of failure.

No one watching XFactor tonight?

Sure hope Vino doesn’t go home Thursday night over a really poor song choice by his coach, L.A. Reid. Didn’t like the original song Vino selected but liked L.A. Reid’s choice even less. He had almost no prep time but a really disappointing performance anyway.

I’m also wishing that Vino doesn’t go home. But I’m also extremely disappointed by how Vino has been so over produced. I think they have completely eliminated his uniqueness. They have turned him into a vanilla singer.

^I completely agree, criz. L.A. Reid needs to keep Vino sounding as “gritty” as he looks. It will be interesting to see if anyone emerges from the pack to give Carly Rose and Tate Stevens some competition. Didn’t love Tate Stevens tonight but Carly Rose was amazing and her little 13 year old sidekick Diamond White was also solid once again.

I agree that Vino sounded terrible and hope he doesn’t go home. LA isn’t doing him any favors. DH and I were pretty surprised at the positive feedback that Tate got for the Keith Urban cover. It was his worst performance to date, really butchered. He’ll be safe because of his fan base, and he should be, but some honest feedback from the judges would be nice. I can’t get onboard with either the boy band or girls group, and Cee Cee now cues me to finish cleaning up the kitchen or get a snack for S3.

Biggest improvement for me was the mom with the short dark hair … her moves are so much more polished than Diamond (take some yoga or dance lessons, please … awkward legs and yet they are so beautiful and long) and her singing was better than it has been … less pitchy. And, she does look like a pop star, if that matters.

I also love Carly’s voice, but there is an immaturity with something about her that make me think 13 is just too young for these competitions, even though she clearly has the talent. No 13-year-old should ever try Adele … their chest and throat are just not developed enough to produce that unique timber quality that makes Adele songs so amazing.

Last, the boy band … they are still like puppies to me. And why does the non-brother always manage to find a way to slip off his shirt. And was he posing and flexing after the performance while the judges were giving their critique? I’m to old to watch that!

As for the winner … if it is Cee Cee, I’m done with this show. She is in way over her bleached head.

Although it might be fun to debate her fate, what happens to Cee Cee tonight does not matter too much. She will never make it into the final rounds. The frontrunner is known and it will be hard for anyone to change the outcome. If anyone, except the overhyped band boy, comes close, you can expect the mentor to kill the chances with sily overproductions that make the singers sound and look poorly. That is exactly what happened to the only real talent of last year who had the misfortune to not be in the Simon group.

Carly will be there in the end, and the next two finalists will be there mostly according to what Simon wants. That means that it would take a LOT for Emblem3 not to be there. The third one? It really does not matter. Tate will run out steam and variety. Vino has lost its edge. The five girls will never be voters’ favorite although they probably are the most appealing act. The others will have a bad night and go home.

In a way, just as last year, the format of the show would be so much better with two or three winners. A 3,2, and 1 million prize would be so much better than a 5,000,000 one winner takes it all. We could root for Carly to win but also for the second and third one to get something out of it.

Fwiw, if they REALLY wanted to find the best talent, they would force the mentors to rotate and not force some to have to compete week after week saddled with the crazy decisions of the one sitting just next to Simon. Last year it was nutty Paula and this year there is an equally misguided “mentor.” What she has done with that poor Cee Cee is horrible.

Oh, I’m not going to spoil it for the west coast crowd…but I have to say I’m shocked on several counts. Really?!? I will say…not to be missed is Cee Cee’s dress. I have no words.

Isn’t the entire purpose of the X-Factor show to shock people? How accurate are the judges in their appraisals and are they deliberately not being contrarian in praising candidates who are not well-liked by the voters and vice versa.

Yesterday was filled with such examples. One of the worst performances got praise from Simon because of a “starlike” outfit. I thought we were rickrolled throughout that pathetic rendition! I would bet a few nickels that the voters will be to differ and confirm why Paige was in the bottom before … after the judges praised her.

But again, it makes no difference. Cee Cee and Paige are on borrowed time.

Wow – now, I get the “shocked” comment. Not that Paige was sent home in the first minutes of the show but that Lady Marmelade escaped the guillotine. Got to feel bad for the one who lost the singoff.

I wasn’t “shocked” that they were in the bottom, after Wednesday night’s performance, but I was shocked that they out sang their rival in the sing-off by such a wide margin and were STILL sent home.

I’m thinking age discrimination was in play on this one by you-know-who…

Okies, another elimination night on X-Factor! Might be more predictable than other weeks. Not sure how the leopard spots girl will live another day. I so wish she would take those untalented One Direction clones (and clowns) with her, but that is not in the cards with the efforts to promote the group. The weakest after CeCe or CeeCee has to be Diamond as she has been over her head for a couple of weeks now.

I am not really sure if it matters because the frontrunner is so evident last year. Unlike last year when the show did everything to push the lesser talent to victory. Something we will get to be reminded once more. After Josh visit a few weeks ago, we get to see that stoic Melanie again. Let’s hope she does not try to convince us again that her accent discriminates her. No talent in the guests tonight … that is for sure.

Oh well. Time to tune in soon!
