Colleges & Universities Stanford University

Actually, people also talk about Columbia College and Harvard College, in addition to Yale College and blah blah blah.

22

Well, whoever did that list likes East Coast schools and service academies.

Service academies are to education what military music is to music.

As far as the East Coast schools on the list are concerned, there are other schools that are as good or better, in certain academic majors and, in some cases overall, than the schools listed. To name a few, I didn’t see Caltech, MIT, Stanford, U.C. Berkeley, UCLA, University of Chicago, or University of Texas on the list.

23

why isn’t Stanford an ivy league, anyway?

24

Because what the ivy league is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_League

and Stanford is on the list… its #1.

25

It’s an odd list, that’s for sure.

If it was based purely on selectivity, it would need to include Julliard.

If it’s purely prestige, it wouldn’t have Cooper Union.

Odd.

26

yah… its weird. I think its author just randomly picked top schools

27

The Ivy League is a sports league, like Stanford is in the Pac Ten.

28

it’s based on location, I think

29

stanford is not ivy league for good reason. ITS NOT ANCIENT 8. also stanford doesnt hold a candle to harvard and princeton so putting that first and throwing in cooper union well face it the list was put together by an alien.
