<p>So, Amherst vs. Dartmouth vs. Brown?
I’m worried that Amherst is too preppy, Dartmouth is too fratty, Brown is not rigorous academically. Are all of these worries justified?</p>

<p>Amherst isn’t preppy. The Pioneer Valley (particularly Amherst and Northampton) is very artsy. The town of Northampton is really bohemian, in particular. As for the school itself, I visited and didn’t find it very preppy, and I had similar fears. :)</p>
<p>Your Brown concern is unjustified. Rigid and rigorous are not synonymous. There are a lot of smart and hardworking kids at Brown.</p>
<p>Personally I’d go with Dartmouth, but if those are your concerns I’d go to Brown because it definitely has great academics</p>
