We want to ask for more than the amount of the scholarship our daughter was awarded through the university? Any suggestions?

valeriez - bumping this.

great question…can I add something further to your question?

are some scholarships awarded based on need and others awarded based on merit?

I am by no means a scholarship expert (and many on here are) but here’s what I think:

valeriez: It does not hurt to have your daughter call and ask. If she can support the request with new information (better recent grades, better offers from very comparable school…) that would be best.

condor: Yes! Some scholarships are based on need and some are just based on the fact that a particular school wants your kid. You have to look at the overall package from each school. If you don’t know if the offers are based on need or merit, you can call and ask.

thanks weenie:)
