<p>On another thread there was discussion of things kids call to ask for “help” with and you find yourself giving instructions (which you probably offered to do in person but they were declined at the time)–which are often way harder to give over the phone: (eg–ironing a shirt, making an omelet)</p>
<p>I thought it would be fun to gather these and their related anecdotes in a thread. The 2 we’ve had to provide that made me laugh:</p>
<p>1) How to put gas in the car. (which i had of course offered instruction in but it would have been “too embarassing” or “too cold” at those moments). Fortunately–mid-instructions–a police officer at the adjacent pump stepped in to help. (Bet that was it’s own embarassing)</p>
<p>2) How to use jumper cables! (This requested while we were driving in a rain storm.)</p>
<p>And yes I know really-good parents would have insisted their kids know them before ever driving but I am simply a good-enough parent</p>
