An American Expat Lost in Translation

<p>My friend is an american citizen who has lived on 4 different continents… 3 countries in high school. Does anyone have any ideas on how he can incorporate these experiences into a coherent essay?</p>

<p>The most advice I can give: don’t list. Make the experience vivid: if that means focusing on ONE country, even ONE day or one single minute, that’s fine. So long as that day was important. It’s better to go into depth on one or two things (maybe in the conclusion explaining the actual circumstaqnces or something) then spreading yourself thin trying to put in everything.</p>

<p>uh… why are you asking this for your friend? i agree with chsowlflax17, as I have a similar background to your “friend” <wink>. wouldn’t hurt to mention his/her background but dont jump around or write a chronological narrative</wink></p>
