Throughout my educational career I have had the chance to study many subjects, read many books, and have had the opportunity to take a wide variety of intellectually challenging courses. Though academic aspects such as these are opportunities in themselves, perhaps the most rewarding educational opportunity I have come across is my experience in the Muslim Student Association. Since I became a member, I have had the chance to express my heritage to a society of students who share my background and therefore understand my opinions. At our club meetings, we open the floor to discussion and debate about matters in politics, the economy, and most importantly, about the Islam influence on school affairs.
As a result of this experience, I have had the chance to learn more about my own tradition, and have also learned about the religious experiences of other followers of Islam. During our discussions, we discuss matters such as discrimination of the Islam people in society, and particularly in the school environment. By discussing these sensitive matters, we are able to unify and comfort ourselves, allowing us to freely pursue our education. In essence, by participating in the MSA, I encourage the pursuit of higher learning.
