I am planning to write an essay about my experience of teaching children and the core value of this experience is that i learned that everyone deserves personal attention and even those who dont speak much or are shy or not confident deserve attention.

Regardless how i illustrate my point, my question is: would this topic hurt my chance on applying to a university that has a student body of at least 30k? well of course a majority of the students in this kind of schools dont get enough attention. so if i write about this topic, would it be like i am criticizing the university?

hope u guys can help me figure out about this. thank you very much.

I don’t see any issue. Sounds like you are over-thinking this.

well i intend to put emphasis on the education aspect such as teacher shouldnt overlook anyone. still me over-thinking?

I see your point:
The need for individual attention in education is age related. Of course all students benefit from it, but in different ways. You mentioned teaching children, but college students are young adults. Children need more, and different attention, so if your essay is about a young age group, then the size of the college has little to do with this.
By college age, learning is more self driven than teacher driven. Teachers can still make a difference but college students must take a larger initiative to seek out individual attention than in the lower grades. The relationship is more mentor than teacher at this point.
The “teacher shouldn’t overlook anyone” is a good message, but only up to a certain age. It’s fine in your essay topic if you are clear that you are talking about children, not making a statement that teachers in college should do this. It will be your responsibility to seek out your teachers, not the other way around.

wow ur right! now i see the point. yeah it was age that matters but i just didnt realize it. thank u!!

You are welcome… good luck with your essay!
