I don’t understand a question in the blue book:
pg 419 Practice Test 1 Section 8
4. Cito Gaston one of the least ________________ baseball managers suprised reporters by weeping openly after his team won the play-offs.

a) somber
b) demonstrative
c) insufferable
d) bountiful
e) wi****l.

The book says the answer is b. I don’t understand wi****l seems like the best word to me. It means musingly sad…

Okay first of all can you include commas that are in the question? The actual Q should be
Cito Gatson, one of the least ___ baseball managers, surprised reporters by weeping openly after his team won the play-offs. right?

It’s demonstrative because it means something like “openly showing one’s feelings/emotions.” This baseball manager is the LEAST demonstrative, meaning he does not like showing his emotions. He surprised the reporters by doing so. (Weeping openly)

Does it make sense that Cito Gaston would be SAD when his team won the playoffs? Of course not, he’d be elated! So saying he is “one of the least SAD baseball managers, surprised reporters by weeping openly after his team won the playoffs” does not make sense.
