An Uncommon InViTaTiOn

Anyone submit an essay question? Feel like sharing? When does Chicago pick 'em?

I sent one in. I would guess they pick them by August, when the application becomes available…

I sent one in that involved Kurt Vonnegut’s ideas of the karass and the granfalloon from “Cat’s Cradle.” I asked who was in the karass of the person writing the essay what was its purpose. Note: Vonnegut is an alum, which was a cool coincidence.

Yeah Sarah, “coincidence”.

My essay pretty much asked the person to define the opposite gender in their own terms without getting personal. It might be biased against gender-confused individuals, but I’m sure they’d be able to deduce which to pick.

Using Tom Robbins’ “Skinny Legs and All” as inspiration, I asked people what a conversation between two of their households’ inanimate objects might be like.

Mine was on Road Rage.

When will they announce the winners? What do we get if we win?

haha, jpps1, that’s awesome. and hey fadi, it’s true! i would have asked that same question, even if vonnegut hadn’t gone to the school. it’s a bonus : )

“What do we get if we win?”

According to their email, “something larger than a t-shirt but not quite a year’s tuition.”

I guess it would be something useful, like a gift certificate for books or something…who knows?

and when next year’s prospies come in april you can ask them if they had a good time with your prompt.
